This may not be news to you locals, but I was unaware.
So we drove down from Charlotte this weekend for our daughter’s dance camp
and performance at halftime of the UF game. We stayed at the Hilton in the Vista. Leaving the hotel parking deck today, I noticed Elevation Church signs and volunteers.
I had no idea well known ClemTech homer and best buddy of Perry Noble, one Steven Furtick had setup his McChurch in Cola. Furtick markets to the younger crowd, the parking volunteers looked liked USC students.
Furtick is controversial in many ways. He bought a $1.7 million mansion just outside of Charlotte a few years ago, this made major media headlines. Furtick has very “unique” theology (I’m being as kind as possible).
I truly hope our students and other Columbians don’t fall for this guy’s ruse. Furtick has some major audacity to open up shop in Cola. But hey, I guess he needs to keep making those mortgage payments.
