You’re going to die sooner or later. Only question is how you live your life and what you leave behind. In any event, after this is over I will eagerly await the public outcry for more public expenditures that similarly benefit our society’s well being such as investments in education, healthcare, and environmental protection, and everyone’s willingness to pay more taxes to make that happen. I’m not sure why minimizing the impact of a new cold warrants stopping the world but other things that make our lives better do not warrant a greater investment of our resources.
They tried that In Germany about 80 years ago.Stricter than this nonsense we are trying to do now.
I would say you can only go out for medicine, medical care, food, gas and work, but only if you are employed at a grocery store, pharmacy, gas station, as a first responder, law enforcement, or in medicine. Everyone else stays home and on their own property. $500 fine for first violation. Immediate escort home if you are stopped.
Only 1 person per car. 2 people if the passenger is being transported for medical care. You have to show proof of destination. (I.E., groceries or supplies in the car, written prescription or filled prescription, appointment paper for doctor, and proof that you are in law enforcement, employee of an essential business, medicine or a first responder.)
I would put a 30 day limit on it, but declare martial law and bring in the national guard to aid in enforcement.
That's not going to happen in some areas. You know the answer to that.
I’d certainly love to see what the estimated cost per quality years of life saved is from this debacle and compare that to other policy choices going forward. And I am as frustrated as much as anything about our lack of preparedness from a foreseeable problem even while we run trillion dollar deficits. I’d like to think we’ll learn from this how to be more sustainable and efficient but I’m just not optimistic based on our track record. There are some good thoughts in there and I hope the world is a better place because I am and was here. Some failures, to be sure, but trying to make a positive contribution is the aim. As to your last point, it should be enlightening to see how expenditures of our resources on war preparations and its demands compare to any medical preparedness we have done. Then there is the financial aftermath results of our lack of medical preparedness to consider. Bill Gates is damn straight in his assessment of these.

I wonder if they use the shiny side of foil for the outside or the inside?
Ridiculous...do you even know history?
You must be on the younger side. I've had the great privilege to know numerous folks who came through the Great Depression as well as WWII. Some within my own family.
Not buying your evasive comment. You original comment is baseless and not a historical fact. You must be on the younger side. I've had the great privilege to know numerous folks who came through the Great Depression as well as WWII. Some within my own family.
So you think this is all a hoax. They tried that In Germany about 80 years ago.
Excellent. And very true. There was (as there is now) an enormous wealth disparity in the 1920s with most of the wealth in just a few hands. The stock market crash just extended the financial hardship to the 1% of that era.Younger? You are confused. Herbert Hoover was president when I was born. Don't just know people who came through the great depression, I experienced it directly and from the lower strata.
Many people did not have a positive financial experience of the roaring 20's. Much of the country was in relative depression even before the stock market crash which just made it worse.
Many peoples vision of the financial state of preWW2 USA is completely warped by their current relative richness. Not necessarily your fault but that is how it is.
Stock brokers are worse than lawyers? WOW! I can't speak for any "stock brokers" as there aren't really any left, but as for me, I put my clients best interest at the forefront of every decision I make. If you cash out now, you've lost roughly 20-30% YTD (if you're in indexed funds). Getting out on the bad days, means you miss the good days. But, by all means, keep DIYing and reacting through emotion versus years of studying and knowledge of how the markets work.70 million died during world war 2 and the world survived. I think it will survive this. Throw away your tinfoil and stay positive. Stock brokers are worse than lawyers. Cash out and wait a while and let the panic subside. Everything’s going to be ok. The only wars you hear about now on the news are between the democrats and republicans.

Quit making sh_t up.
BS. Go find one historian who will agree with you claims. If anything, the depression is what led to WWII and to the US being poorly prepared for it. It certainly gave rise to the Nazis. What do you mean by historical fact? Will you find it recorded in a history book? As I said, it goes beyond just regurgitating what you read in a book.
Those who came up through the depression developed an amazing fortitude and unbreakable resolve. They had to because that was the only way to survive it.
It was those exact attributes that led to our boys having the iron will to storm of the boats on D-Day into near certain death, among the many other heroic feats they performed.
It was Divine providence, really, that allowed the events of the Great Depression to proceed and run into WW2.
Why does this trouble you so? It's just rather self-evident that their character and resolve was developed and shaped by the Great Depression. It's part of our American greatness that instead of succumbing to it, they used it make themselves stronger people.
I think the translation means “new order of the ages”. I’ve read that it is to denote our Declaration of Independence as a new American era. My comments are not meant to rebuke your idea of a New World Order. Personally I believe the idea of it does exist."Novus Ordo Seclorum" ….. is what is written on the back of your $1 bill. That translates into …. New World Order. And it is coming. Bank on it. This is a designed plan - One world government and the ushering in of this order.
