Florida Keys Trip Looking for Lodging Suggestions

This is the rough plan for my keys trip in March. Looking for suggestions on where to stay in Southern Miami/Homestead for the first couple of days while we see the national parks. Where to stay in the Upper or Middle keys for ~2 days, and where to stay in Key West for a night. Our plans are pretty flexible. Looking for clean decent places, doesn't have to be the Cheeca Lodge or anything. Two adults.

Day 1 Fly into Miami, Biscayne Bay NP
Day 2 Everglades NP
Day 3 Upper Keys, Snorkel in Pennycamp State Park
Day 4 Middle Keys, Maybe fish out of Islamorada
Day 5 Seaplane to Dry Tortugas NP & Key West
Day 6 Key West and travel day back north. Stay near FLL
Day 7 Fly out of Fort Lauderdale in the morning

Latitudes at Sunset Key. Right off of Key West. A great dinner Experience. Make your reservation a month or so out you won’t be sorry. Great food, amazing service and a breathtaking sunset. Ferry rides included with reservation


We take the ferry over to Latitudes every year and it is so worth it. From the ferry ride over to the beautiful setting and fabulous food, it is spectacular. Our server Dan made it even better as he was truly wonderful. I can't even say what to order because it is all fabulous!

I love the old school lodging throughout the Keys as the chains are typically sub-par.

The only location you'll probably need formal reservations at one of the usual suspects is in Key West.

Sounds like a good agenda.

Andrews Inn. Like a B&B. Not cheap but always love it.

Really enjoyed the Hampton Inn and Suites on Key Largo. Right on the water with an excellent swimming beach.

My last trip to Key West my wife and I stayed in a great Suite on Key West NAS. I’m retired from the Air Force so we try to stay at Military lodging facilities around the world….. it’s much cheaper than the expensive places in the high tourist hotels.

If anyone was wondering,

Ended up going with Tru by Hilton the first two nights, an airbnb house on a small island in the middle keys for nights 3&4, The Duvall Inn for the Key West Night, and another Tru by Hilton in Ft Lauderdale the final night.

Ended up going with Tru by Hilton the first two nights, an airbnb house on a small island in the middle keys for nights 3&4, The Duvall Inn for the Key West Night, and another Tru by Hilton in Ft Lauderdale the final night.

Duvall inn is very key west and a great location. Enjoyed the breakfast every morning as well.. Bike rentals were nice and very reasonable. Stayed there for a week two years ago. We Enjoyed it.
