Should consist only of shooting! They play with heart, but they miss lay ups, free throws and wide open 3's constantly. When they shoot 25% for a game, it makes you wonder if they can hit them in an empty gym with no one guarding them, or whether they put in the time at all!

Any good teams we had in the past could shoot the ball. Being just athletic does not cut it.

Shooting has a lot to do with confidence. Which we have none. Our better shooters like Notice and Thornwell pass up open threes to drive and kick to our poorer shooters. That tells me they've lost confidence.

I remember the announcer in one of our early games saying that our practices were seen of the toughest they have ever seen. With only 8 available players (how bad must Theus Jr be that he can't even get on the court?), perhaps FM should consider dialing back the physical practices and just work on shooting. Maybe he already has. Who knows?

We really can only shoot threes and free throws and we really don't shoot those all that great. We have no one with any kind of touch or ability to make inside shots.

Lacking depth also leads to missed shots. Tired legs often lead to poor form, not finishing, etc. Jump shots begin with your legs underneath you. Tired legs alter form. We still should have better shooters on this team. If the rotation was 8-9, instead of 6-7, perhaps shooting would be improved.

One thing that cannot be debated is lack of effort and the team quitting. Neither of these is an issue.

Dial back the practices??? How do you HAVE practices with 8-9 players...wonder which player was Texas AM's House in practice this week....Someone on here last week mentioned that we were using walk ons so we can have 5 on 5 in practice. Martin never mentioned that this morning in the State...he said this was the first time since he had coached in Jr. High that he couldn't scrimmage 5 on 5. You have...Chatkevicious, Carrera, Notice, Johnson and Thornwell vs. Kacinas, Steele, Theus, Concussion and Sore Throat (concussion out until today and sore throat still out haven't practiced in a couple of weeks). How does that get you ready for Kentucky or Texas AM etc. Not to mention that several of the first five don't get a chance to come out of the game unless they are in foul trouble.

This team plays with a lot of heart and effort which gives me great hope for the future. They seem to play very well on D and are very good at offensive rebounding. They have a lot of skills which should make them a good basketball team, but they lack the most important skill of just putting the ball in the basket!

No one can complain about the way this team shoots free throws. This years team is shooting free throws at a 74% clip, only the 1971 team had a higher percentage at 74.3%. Also in listening to Martin about having so few players he said we need to decrease the number of possessions for each team, that is one of the reasons players are passing up open looks early in the shot clock. I do agree however, their confidence is not real high on shooting since conference play started.

I agree Kacinas for what ever reason keeps passing up open shots. He never gave himself a chance to even get into any type of rhythm.

they all do.....no confidence...and im sick of tired of seeing the ball going inside and then right back out....skeered....no agressiveness
