I appreciate everyone that has stuck around to give us a chance to get this site started. I know most members of the previous site, including myself, still have some time left on their Rivals account. Hopefully we can convince everyone to stick around. I appreciate @Caleb Alexander for working his ass off to provide daily content. Like Caleb has stated, I have a tremendous amount of respect for what Shoe built and his prior staff.
A little about me. I have a full-time day job. I'm based in the Upstate. I have one partner, who is currently out on paternity leave. I graduated from USC in 2006 with a degree in journalism. I haven't worked as a journalist one day in my life. I'm married and I have a 1-year-old son.
My first game at Williams-Brice Stadium predates my memory. I can only trust my parents stories that I was in attendance during the Black Magic season and 1987 Clemson game. My first memory, although extremely faint, was a 59-0 beatdown at the hands of Florida State in 1988. In the following 34 years I've had the chance to see the Gamecocks play in every SEC venue at least once. I've been to most of our bowl games and to Phoenix for the final 4. I haven't made Omaha yet but I will next time we go. I also haven't made Hoover and have no plans on going. I'm going to our next WBB Final Four, I've already ordered a real winter coat.
I never thought I would get a chance to write about South Carolina sports. I wish I had the time to devote 40+ hrs a week to covering USC Athletics, but I can't quit my much higher paying day job. I don't know how long this gig will last and I don't care. I'm going to enjoy it for as long as it does. I'm playing with house money.
My assignments are primarily going to be baseball and women's basketball, however, I hope to be able to provide some coverage of Spring Football and the upcoming season. I have a few connections through my work with the Board of Trustees. I have some football and baseball sources though family. Please don't ask for names because I'm not going to reveal them. Starting next week, I'll do a weekly preview and round up for WBB and baseball.
Please feel free to ask me any questions about anything. Thanks for reading.
