Strategically it's the best move for our program. If you can significantly upgrade your coach, you do it. Wish FM well and tell him it's just business.

Get what done? Frank hasn't even won a conference championship as a college coach. The man had arguably one of the top 5 college recruiting classes and couldn't win a title with it.
Exactly what makes you think that? We ahve an advantage over most universities due to the fact that our baseball program actually generates revenue, and our WBB program is probably close. Even if it doesn't I'm sure it's closer than most and others have to spend much more than we do to fund theirs.
Offer him $3 million and if he turns it down go to $3.5 with incentives to get him close to 5, and merit raises for meeting goals.
I think he'd do it. He's still a huge USC fan.

Still wouldn't be enough. Wichita State would pay more than us and Charles Koch is a huge donor.

Eric Hyman says he doesn't have the "Warchest of Credibility" of a Dave Odom or Darrin Horn, so I'll pass.
Frank Martin is an excellent coach - his teams have improved every year he's been at USC and they always finish strong. Frank will do great things at Carolina.
For all you Gregg Marshall fans... You can thank your hero Eric Hyman for not hiring Gregg Marshall... He at least had two shots to pull the trigger...

Very sad but we missed our chance to hire a successful coach who's a TRUE Gamecock who wanted the job several coaching hires back! Should've DEFINITELY hired him when Odom was hired and, especially, the 2nd chance we had was when we hired Horn. Too late now! Has NOTHING to do with Frank Martin - he had NO part in that & wasn't even in the mix at that time! He's our coach now and I'm pulling hard for him! However, IMO, we missed the boat bigtime by overlooking Gregg Marshall at the time!!
I'm starting to think that we're looking at a similar situation to the Curse of the Bambino. The Marshall Curse may very well keep USC basketball in the dark ages for years to come.

As for the Marshall Curse - that started when Horn was hired. And while the USC basketball program has been historically bad since that time, Wichita State has been historically good. It's real! The curse is real!!!!!
And concerning the Sox, ( I knew you were going to go there) in those 80 yrs won many world series games...pleeease don't compare the two. you only look stupid.. if you go there, then you are saying you need SC to win a Championship to break this childish curse thing.. You only embarrass yourself, which you seem to accomplish on a regular basis.

Know what will suck even worse? When Clemson hires him to take over their program and they win. And they'd do it for 2 reasons: To better their program and to piss us off.
Kind of a bold prediction but I do think Clemson will go for him if he doesn't take a huge job before the move on from Brad Brownell.

We should pay whatever is cost and just fix the program and hire GM.

I beg Alabama to sign him to a guarantee 20yr. contract where both parties have to honor the contract, the coach cant leave and university cant fire him ... or be shot by a firing squad...

SC curse where some of the asinine boosters whom kept clusterfreaking the football program for decades, saw a chance to meddle in the basketball program when shut out of clustering the football program with the hiring of high profile national coaches.
So they decided to once again show their superior judgment skills at things which they have no freaking clue about.....call it the Jerry Jones initiative....
ESPN and every major sporting venue in the country had Marshall already listed as the next SC head coach it was so obvious...but of course the self-inflicted wound group decided they would SHOCK the world and betablock Marshall and push their special pet projects.

Frank Martin has improved upon his record every year he has been here. His players love him, and he is recruiting well. All of this talk about Marshall does nothing but hinder our programs ability to move forward. Stop the nonsense
