It's interesting you mentioned refs. I'm not sure how much difference the foul disparity made, but they showed one high light after the game where "chunky girl" literally elbowed one of our girls to the floor, and then hit a three. Man, I tell ya, if that wasn't a foul I don't know what is. Also, did anyone notice towards the end of the game, when it was clearly over, that the refs started calling more fouls in our favor. I viewed it as an effort to close the fouls called gap for the final stats. Anyway, don't think it would have mattered UCONN is a great team.Originally posted by gamecockengineer2011:
UCONN was clearly the better team and South Carolina isnt there yet. I do think its worth saying that the referees clearly favored the home team which is evident just looking at the disparity in free throw attempts. That ham beast they had that was hot behind the 3 point line was getting away with pushoffs all night.
I agree that we didn't have an answer for a great player like Stewart but we need to be able to execute plays that gets the other team out of place and puts our players in position to score. UConn did that and we did not.Originally posted by johnnyplaid:
Didn't seem Carolina had an answer for 6'4" Breanna Stewart. I think she had 22 points and 5 blocked shots.
Carolina did not look like they were used to playing against such a tall team. Maybe we can rectify that before we play them again.

They are that good. They had a great white girl playing named Breanna Stewart. We don't have any white girls on our team... isn't that racist? I forgot, it is only racist if the team was all white. Jesse and Al would be to visit then.
Our job to stop 'em from scoring.Originally posted by bitemeiptay:
The team from Conn. played very well but I don't think much of their arrogant coach trying to run the score up and shooting three point shots when they already had a twenty point lead with less than five minutes left. I guess they will win their third or fourth national championship in a row this year and more power to them. If they don't get upset, they'll face a Gamecock team that is ready for them on a neutral floor. They have a very large team, tall and wide.
Not likely a very successful venture. Only UConn can stop UConn.Originally posted by Rod Dangerfield:

Have we been past the Sweet 16 yet? Seems like we made it to Elite 8, but I can't remember. Too many bad memories of MBB in my brain taking up space.Originally posted by Jack_Burton:
"The next level" meaning national champions? Because there aren't too many levels beyond where we currently are, lol. Only one level, by my measure, and UConn is currently on it.
I'm not so sure about that. But here's the thing: as crazy as it may sound, in a tournament setting, me may not have to beat 'em. Who knows, maybe they end up having a bad night or a tough matchup along the way and drop a game to somebody like Stanford in the tournament. That's why you just play the games and see what happens. If we win all our games and they win all of theirs we'll likely meet them again in the national championship game. But you never know what my happen between now and then.Originally posted by sanfordcock:
Right now we could play UConn 10 times in Columbia and not beat them once.
Only time we made the Elite 8 was under Susan Walvius. Duke beat us in the regional final.Originally posted by HI Cock:
