I don't understand why we wouldn't want Golson

Using that logic then Dawn should have never pulled in the one year transfer from Virginia for the women's basketball program. Do not remember any discontent among the ranks over that move.
Bringing in a top transfer like Dawn did is different than a transfer like Golson. Golson isn't the same caliber of player, bad comparison. I understand the logic you were referring to was my statement of "Bringing in one year transfers isn't the way to go if you're wanting to build a solid program." but you can't compare basketball to football. My point was you're going to hurt the development of younger QB's, bringing in a basketball transfer is completely different because, at least with basketball, the young players can get on the court and play with the aforementioned transfer, furthering their development. Bringing in a QB to take snaps is different.

The TO argument is rediculous. Why is someone not good enough for us, and but is good enough for UGA, UF, LSU, etc? It's like when Queen Dixon said we were too good for the Independence Bowl. This is why we can't get over the hump. It's the mentality that "we don't have to do it that way, we'll do it our way." It's not just this player, it's the whole damn school in a nutshell. I just want one SEC Championship! Is that so much to ask? We're gonna be the higher moral authority while Clemsux preaches morals to the media and bullsh!t to recruits. We have to play the game, we don't have a choice if we want to win.

I don't understand why we WOULD want Golson. Even if he comes in and has a good season he would maybe give us one more win? We would only be hurting ourselves in the long run, the snaps that Golson would get could go towards the development of one of the future quarterbacks. Bringing in one year transfers isn't the way to go if you're wanting to build a solid program. I understand the desire to bring in a guy that has had a level of success, especially when we don't have a proven QB on staff, but I say we stick with what we have and let some other school pluck Golson off the market.

Why? Because we have a questionable, at best, OL with a pocket passer. That is not a recipe for success.

Dabdumb speaks out both sides of his a$$ on a daily basis and no one except us question it. Well guess what, if that's how it's gonna be then we gotta get with the program. Stop thinking we're better than other schools. We have to always be changing and evolving.

I would love to have Golson here, this allows Nunez to redshirt (which he really needs) and McIlwain will be here in January. I think one of those 2 Qbs will be South Carolina's future. Mitch might be a upgrade from Thompson eventually, but I think the coaches have realize that a Shaw type of Qb will produce the most wins.

First of all, I do not believe he is coming here. He did not want us when he was in high school so I figure nothing has changed. Also, I never said they were the same "caliber" of player. My point is there is all this fussing about possibly bringing in a one year player yet no one seemed to have a problem with Dawn doing it just the other day. I would also point out that we also brought in the safety from Kansas. Other than Rod Dangerfield, I do not remember any uproar about that either. It comes across as a tad hypocritical if its okay for 2 others but not Golson. That's all I'm saying. Can't have it both ways IMO.

I think most think that Golson would be a good Qb, but when has Spurrier while at USC had a Qb that could start right away? Safety position would be easier the learn during the summer. BTW, I do want Golson to transfer here.

The reason I'd like to see us get him is we have zero experience at QB. We still don't know how our young QBs are going to handle the pressure when it gets put on them. Golson has played in big games and played well. I'd love to see him come in and have Mitch get quality snaps behind him sort of the way Dillon did behind Shaw. That way we'd have a experienced and hopefully confident Mitch starting his junior season. A lot of people were mad that Mitch didn't get more snaps last season. Mitch was not ready last season and Steve had zero confidence in him. Mitch has made great strides and is a world better than he was last season but he still doesn't have the experience.

He is a vast improvement over what we currently have on campus. I think that it is funny that he is a "TO Machine" when we have his that can't complete passed against our limited defense even in practice. Yeah, a guy do the for 3400 yards at a major institution and can seriously tin the ball can't help us pronto. It must be the vestiges of a Cinco de Mayo tequilafest.

, though the SEC is no lock to accommodate Golson. The league has a rule prohibiting schools from accepting graduate transfers who have been disciplined by their previous schools.

Didn't Slive also limit the # of recruits to 28 that SEC schools can sign? I know not all schools follow that policy, so why would they worry about not signing a grad student who's had some issues?

Golson will get in an SEC school if they a team wants him and he wants to go there.

Check out Notre Dame QB Everett Golson's impressive performance against #2 Florida State. The Irish came up on the short end of a 31-27 finish, but Golson finished 31-for-52 for 313 yards and three touchdowns.

I think anybody would want him. We would, with only one QB who has taken a meaningful snap and no proven back-up. SC, GA, and TX seem to be the most nationally prominent schools where he could reasonably expect to start. Why not take him if he can get the waiver?

At the very least we would keep him away from LSU, Florida, and Georgia. All of which we play. If Mitch gets his panties in a wad about competition, then he's not worth anything anyway.

Why would he want to leave a somewhat prestigious school and come play for a school like scar? That makes no sense.

No, what we need is better players around our QB.
Shaw was great and he did win us a lot of games with his running ability. But what we need is better talent and coaching on the OL, a Latt or Davis recruited every year, and for the life of we I can't understand why we haven't recruited a possession receiver every year in the mold of Rice or Jeffery. We should always have 2 solid homerun RB's like Uga, Bama and Auburn does, a solid FB, and at least one possession receiver that can get you a 1st down or be enough of a distraction to the opposing defense to help scheme.

No QB should have to do what Shaw did. You always want a QB that can scramble, but you can't build your offense around it.

Because he is a local kid,and the chance to play for a program that has had some success recently, play in a packed house every Saturday of great fans, and last but not least, play for a legend

Nice talk there Ed? Loser? He played QB for ND and did pretty well. He didn't have a great year but to say he couldn't help us is crazy. He is no loser. Everyone I speak to that knows him says he is a great kid. Some of the talk about him is way to off

My guess is he'll want some kind of guarantee to start. I would hope we wouldn't do that, but I'm sure there are some who will. I'm just not sold on him. He's got some talent, but doesn't make a lot of good decisions.

PLEASE don't compare Golson to Russell Wilson...Wilson transferring had nothing to do with academic issues nor due to the fact that he was outplayed by an underclassman.
That happened because Tom O'Brien is an idiot. Wouldn't even let Wilson come back and compete for the job when his pro baseball career fizzled

Nobody is writing off Mitch and Golson will get no guarantee of starting no matter where he goes. He will be given chance to compete. Don't get why people think bringing in Golson automatically means Mitch won't play. Whoever would earn the job would start

I do not think anyone on this board knows what kind of quarterback Mitch will be. Let's face it, we have not seen him in gameplay. He may be great, may not be. For sure he is going to make beginner mistakes. Golson has proven he can win in Div.1 big games. We do not have that proof today. get Golson for competion.

Per sec rules, he can't come here because he got suspended for a year at the dame. Should settle that.

Look at his turnover ratio. How do you thing he would do with about 4 months of reading the playbook and 3 weeks to practice it? Or do you think Spurrier would change the entire offense to fit Golson's abilities? Serious question.

What is wrong with giving this kid a chance?? He isn't perfect so be it,but he did help lead a team to a National Championship that should be worth something!! He played damn well against Flordia State in Tallahassee last season
