1st off clemson is bringing in probably the best class in the country. Having said that clemson is getting a bad reputation in state. I work for a school district and I talk to a lot coaches all the time. There is not a lot of division 1 talent in my district but that's beside the point. Again Clemson is bringing in a great class. But they are getting the reputation that their poop don't stink with coaches. Just look at the top 5 in state players the last couple of years. Most if not all ended up at USC. Will it matter on the football field in years to come ? I dont know. I'm just saying.

If you remember, they were acting the same way before SOS started taking all the talent in our state. Once that happened, you started to see the tides start flowing our direction. Wouldn't be surprised if their arrogance will catch up to them in the next few years.

If SC produces another 2/3 classes like those Spurrier enjoyed, it could have a great impact.

lol. You do realize Doty wanted to come to Clemson, but didn’t because we signed a better prospect. Joyner wanted to come to Clemson but we didn’t want him as a qb. Edwards wanted to play at Clemson but we didn’t want him as a wr. No telling how many more wanted to come to Clemson but couldn’t. South Carolina is greatly benefiting from Clemsons recruiting dominance nation wide, so don’t act like all these kids are just dying to come play for UofSC instead of Clemson.

My god man, are things that boring on your board that you have to come over here to get your jollies?

You dont know what you are talking about. Just go back to wccp. If these kids wanted to go to clemson they would have. Again, I not putting down clemson class. Just the way they act in state . And I know what I'm talking about tater tot.

Care to try to spin cycle the Burch or Huntley commits this year?

Brad Lawing, on The Fade In podcast with Erik Kimrey, said our coaches caught theirs in a major recruiting violation and used that to leverage the in-state talent for a couple years at a time when some of the best talent ever came out of SC. He said Gilmore's family caught a recruiting violation on tape. He didn't say what these violations were. Before anyone spouts off at me, I know Lawing is/was no saint.

USC is going to get a Burch every now and then. But unfortunately what the tater says has a lot of truth to it. They got better than Huntley. Clemson recruiting right now just doesnt need a base. And it is true that USC recruiting has actually benefitted from the fact that many times they dont seriously go up against Clemson as Clemson is after some high four, or five star, elsewhere. But dont think that the USC staff is buddy buddy with every HS coach in the state. I know a few that they pay zero attention to unless they think they might have a recruitable player in the near future. Just like the Clemson staff does.

There are quite a few who wanted to go to Clemson but they did not have enough pimples on their face to play there.

This is the reality of it. It's great that we got Pickens and Burch instead of them, but don't think that is going to turn the tide at all. They are a top program. They can take who they want for the most part, I mean they've got players from all over. I really don't think them not "owning" SC is going to catch up to them in any way really.

Let's be realistic here. The tide will not go out at Clemson until one of two things happen. Dabo Swinney retires or takes another job, or they are caught in a major recruiting scandal.

But we might be able to assemble enough talent to beat them in the next few years. A lot of things have to fall into place for that to happen, but we took a big step today.

They're a powerhouse and raking in the top class. We're #4 in our division. We'll have to get a generational player at the QB position to have a prayer.

Tbh if I'm stroking their ego by saying that on this forum, that means they would be on their rivals page reading stuff which should be sad enough to bring their ego back down to earth!

I think ignoring Clemson is the best approach. We have to be more focused on getting better. The gap is still pretty significant between the 2 programs, and I don’t think this year’s class will change that significantly. But hopefully, these signees will help us improve enough to create momentum, and momentum creates better results, and better results over time will help us close the gap.

When you pull from the IMG's of the world and have a pick anywhere in the country it really doesn't matter how you perform in State. Unfortunately Clemson is a National brand where blue chip recruits are lining up. 2 out of 3 Natty's will change your recruiting pool.

I agree.

This was a great class capped by Burch. Him along with Huntley, Lloyd, and Doty closed the talent gap with Clempson. If our coaches can help them reach their potential we should be able to compete in 2 years, maybe 3. I'm still not sold on Champ, but this class gives me hope.

While that is true, there is a cap as to how many top players a team can pull in....and you don't have to recruit equal to or better than them to beat them on occasion...you just have to improve your recruiting enough. Alabama has found this out with Auburn and LSU. LSU found it out several years ago as has TOSU.

I don't have any problem with our last several assistant coaching hires....they seem to be a marked improvement over who they replace. And if we can find a position for Durkin, we will be in much, much better shape IMO.

They will learn in a short period of time that there is more to Klemzun and taterville than football.

Add to those Shaw (who is underrated especially as a defensive player), Bell, Powers, and hopefully Caldwell and Parrish. There is also a CB that from his film seems to be way underrated. This is a strong class, especially in positions of need.

And they'll keep doing it until all them skeletons come out the closest in them there hills and hoping the nutzless NCAA grows a pair.
