I wasnt going to say this unless Burch committed to USC. So..

I can help you with that.

Clemson recruited them because they are talented players and in state. The standard to get an offer from CU is very high now. Only a few across the country meet it, so its reasonable that only a small % of instate players will as well.

Players have a clear choice in state. A team that graduates players, wins championships, puts players in the NFL. You are not guaranteed anything, you will be held accountable on and off the field. You will compete every day against some of the best players in the country. You will play great teams in the playoffs. Some are up to the challenge ... some are not. Some have grown up SC fans or have SC fans in their family, etc. They are most likely to go to SC regardless. That's fine.

For all the play against the best in SEC talk, development takes place day to day. Competing against other great players. You get that at CU. Playing against the best is good, but which team has played Bama the most in the last 5 years?

Maybe Pickens and Burch didn't want those challenges? Burch sure isn't challenged daily at Hammond. Maybe that's what he was looking for? An easy path ... less competition.

Hope this helps.
Wouldn't going to Clemson and playing in the ACC be more akin to his Hammond situation?

Its not just our opinion but national writers and pundits as well. Thought I would help you out Wahoo tater.

5. AAC: That's right, a Group of Five conference cracks the top five ahead of the ACC. Why? Part of it has to do with the ACC's struggles after Clemson, but it might not have mattered considering the seasons that Memphis, Cincinnati, Navy and SMU put together.

This is the reality of it. It's great that we got Pickens and Burch instead of them, but don't think that is going to turn the tide at all. They are a top program. They can take who they want for the most part, I mean they've got players from all over. I really don't think them not "owning" SC is going to catch up to them in any way really.

One brick at a time. Clemson started by signing one 5-star, Sammy Watson. Then a couple the next year and so on. I think we have been matching the gifts. What do you think?

Dont be hurt because he didnt pick clemson.

I would have liked for him to pick Clemson, but he didn’t. He may turn bout to be an outstanding player, but there are advantages from a player development standpoint to being at Clemson right now.

I didn’t mention the ACC, just that playing in the SEC isn’t playing one really good team after another. More good teams than other conferences, most years yes. But there were some really bad SEC teams this year.

Sammy Watkins. And it really started with CJ Spiller.

That’s absolutely true. Dabo built something distinctive .... a certain culture. You can like it or not, but its uniquely Clemson. Every team /program needs that distinctive feature.

If you're naive enough to believe he was the only one, then yeah.

I’m not naive. I have run NCAA programs (D 1, 2 and 3) for 30 years. The vast majority of Ostarine cases are accidental contaminations. There were 3. Two who struggled to keep their weight down, so no motivation to get bigger. But think what you’d like.

LOL at no motivation to get bigger! It's about staying healthy and of course everyone wants to get stronger. But you're not naive or anything.

But you're right, was probably just contaminated hairspray. Hahahahaa!

Ostarine?

Enjoyed the friendly banter guys.

Grew up liking both schools. My Dad loved College sports and even though he was a CU alum, when we lived in Hartsville for a few years, he got USC season football tickets. One year a USC player actually delivered our season tickets. Ben Garnto (sp). He sat down in our house and talked to my Dad for over an hour. Really nice young guy ... per my Dad.

I loved watching Thompson & Harlicka (sp) play basketball. At one time I thought I’d be the 2nd coming of John Roche. Had a recruiting visit to Cola ( 1970 maybe) and got some USC practice gear. About 3 weeks later was at the UCLA camp and wore it the first day just for fun. Coach Wooden came over to me and asked where I got it. (He knew where I’d been). I told him, this is who will beat you in the tournament this year. He laughed and said “University of Santa Clara will be really good this year, but they wont beat us.” Grinned at me and walked away. He was amazing.

Now a Tiger, but every now and then like to visit here. Sorta like wearing the USC Practice jersey to the UCLA camp.

Clemson definitely wanted Burch. He's a big risk since he's so unproven, but has a very high upside. Clemson also wanted a second defensive end and held out on some others to try to get him. Clemson did not want Huntley very much and never extended him an offer if you go check. They filled up on defensive tackles, recruiting Bresee (the #1 defensive tackle), Capehart (#2 defensive tackle), and Tre Williams (#4 defensive tackle). Huntley is a good player, but he's #15 at his position.

That right there is a classic tater spin if I've ever read one.... "Burch is a big risk"... sure pal, I'm sure you'd say the same had he picked Clemson. That's about as bad as you idiots claiming that you backed off and no longer recruited Pickens last year when half of your defense accompanied your DC to the announcement.

Don’t recall them having any significant injuries. They didn’t have to reveal what the players tested positive for. Dabo did so to remove any suspicion it was recreational drugs. Was willing for the program / him to take the hit instead of players. Pretty sure you and I wont agree on this topic, but that’s OK.

An easy path.... less competition??? You just described Clemson's schedule perfectly. Good job tater.

Not the guy you're responding to, but if I remember correctly (remember than Dabo only gives his assistant coaches a certain number of slots), I think they had three wide-out positions. TJ Chase and Cornell Powell got the first two spots. They gave the last spot to Diondre Overton because everyone thought Overton was better (they were wrong). Then K'Von Wallace and Bryan Edwards wanted to join the class (both wide-receivers), and they told them they were full at WR, but would take them if they wanted to play defensive back. Wallace said yes, Edwards said no. Both became great at their position.

I find it so odd that all of you taters recite this same crap over and over like you were right there in the room as recruits were being told they were full so they would have to change positions. Speculation is not factual no matter how many times it is repeated.

If it were accidental then why has Clemson never released the source? Surely their internal investigation found the contaminated supplement? Or was Dabo right, and it's in everything?

It can appear as a trace amount in many products. It’s not suppose to be in them, but appears as a containment. That’s why the vast majority of cases are determined to be are accidental. Usually its just a single batch of a product. If you still have products from that batch you can discover the origin and its ruled accidental. If you don’t happen to have samples from that batch you will never know.

Wrong. Dabo did so to control the narrative. Remember him trying to sell that Ostarine could be found in lotions and creams, shampoo, salt in the soaking pool, drinks, or protein? Strange thing that it's is so common in ordinary items, but only players from one team got busted for it in their system.

All schedules are easy when you are better than other teams. Like last year ... Alabama was an easy game for the Tigers, just not for the rest of the SEC. This year is to be determined.

Does calling me a Tater make you feel better? It seems very childish. Seeking help for your issues with self esteem doesn’t carry the same stigma as it once did you know.

It has been found in those types of products. Not common, but in many other products as well. No other team released any information on the nature of their positive drug tests.

If that is true then why are there not 100's of football players testing positive? I mean, you guys act like its as common as high fructose corn syrup.

Over 1100 athletes per year are screened for drugs at championship events and fewer than 10 per year test positive for the category Ostarine falls under.

Alabama wasn't on Clemson's Schedule last year. Post season games are not apart of your schedule. You play your schedule to get to the Post Season.

I will continue to call you a tater because you come on this site to provoke, criticize, and make snarky and smug comments under the guise of "just here to talk football". Your smug, arrogant comments are not as clever as you believe. It's odd you suggest I have issues when it is you that is here only to stir the pot and try and get a rise out of Carolina fans. Many of your comments are inaccurate so why act surprised when someone challenges your opinion? No one here is buying what you're selling.

The OP started this thread on the idea that Datboy and staff are not exactly well liked in SC by high school coaches, which I know firsthand is true in the Charleston area. Dabo absolutely big times local coaches and players, and it will bite him in the ass sooner or later. The same thing happened right before the 5 streak and USC was able to capitalize on the state's abnormally high amount of highly ranked players.
Recruiting is only part of the equation and USC has certainly bolstered it's recruiting in the last 2 classes. Clemson's class this year will likely be the number one overall class but it didn't just happen overnight. it was a process over several years. Clemson's last classes were ranked 5th, 8th, 22nd, 6th, 4th, 13th. Very solid, very good, but not elite. However, Clemson beat several teams which out recruited them. USC beat Georgia this year and Georgia has stacked top 5 classes back to back. recruiting is important, but it is not the be all end all. USC became more competitive yesterday and has players to compete.

Wow..... SARM's are a banned substance, it is impossible to be in shampoo, lotions, and especially food. Maybe they bought a supplement at GNC with it , but a program like Clemson should know everything going into all their players bodies . It's not an accident, it was in a supplement or they took it knowingly. It's not approved by the FDA, so supplements are the only source it could have been. They knew what it was, even if they took 6 supplements, they could have tested all 6 and released the info.....

I love the banter of recruiting classes. But the great equalizer is the fact that only 11 guys can line up on each side of the field. One team may have 40 4/5 star players but only 11 are on the field at a time.

I like our class because there is an upgrade in talent and depth. This will translate into better players. The proof will be on the coaching staff and the health of the players. Team health has been a factor and not having quality backup players. We are closing this gap recruiting wise so it will fall solely on the coaches. The coaches must do a better job of game planning and the new strength and conditioning coach must keep our guys on the field.

If both teams line up with their best 11 players, then we have a chance in every game because the talent level is closer in equals. I believe this is where Spurrier and staff earned their money. I think this is where Dablo caught fire at Clemson. Each closed the talent gap through solid recruiting.

Now it is up to the coaching staff to produce!!

You suggested a USC recruit seemingly wants an easier path...less competition. Post of the year from a tiger. And you appear to be looking down on him from your perception.

You do realize Clemson plays the easiest schedule in college football...right? No worries about injuries. The polls looked down on you all year for playing that weak azz schedule.

Your funniest statement was "You will get to play great teams in the playoffs". Exactly, your out of conference schedule was your toughest competition this year. And it takes you to get to the playoffs before you finally play anybody...us included at least for this year.

Get a glass stomach installed so you can see where you're going...with your head so far up your azz.

lol. You do realize Doty wanted to come to Clemson, but didn’t because we signed a better prospect. Joyner wanted to come to Clemson but we didn’t want him as a qb. Edwards wanted to play at Clemson but we didn’t want him as a wr. No telling how many more wanted to come to Clemson but couldn’t. South Carolina is greatly benefiting from Clemsons recruiting dominance nation wide, so don’t act like all these kids are just dying to come play for UofSC instead of Clemson.
You can say anything you want Tater but you are only running your mouth and cannot prove anything you say. Enjoy your easy path to the playoffs while you can .

Don't know about the others, but Doty has always been gamecock through and through.

Yep...the pay is a lot better.
