If Blackshear is proven guilty, let him go elsewhere

People who make mistakes need support, not rejection. After the legal process plays out, he has a chance to come in here and contribute, and be mentored by Marcus Lattimore, Shaq Wilson, Devonte Holloman etc. This is by far his best option going forward...and we, as Gamecocks, should want this for him...JMO.

I will not presume to know enough about the details. I will have to trust the administration.

My cynical view is if Ward can commit fraud to get paid, what's the big deal?

I'm of the opinion that we give him a....... - ONE - .......second chance. Maybe he gets PTI and never has another issue here. I hope that's the way this plays out.

Agree. I look back at my young adult life and can't believe I was stupid enough to do some of things I did. I am grateful I had patient, understanding people in my life.

Same here but

playing football on full scholarship is an honor.

and if he's guilty of stealing, I think that is different for a player that is going to receive a scholarship for 4 years.

There should be consequences if found guilty. For example, one year suspension (redshirt year basically) with no chance of playing time and then of course on a short leash after that.

But thinking that kicking him off the team is punishing him is ridiculous. Other teams, within the SEC even, will be calling him up immediately.

I agree with Roller Dude. Looking back on my years at THE USC, I could have taken several trips downtown. I was never caught and never did anything to hurt someone. Let the process proceed and hopefully he will get a chance at redemption. After all, that is what a lot of us profess every day that we believe.

Wow, paranoid much? How do you know we don't already have crooks on our team biding their time? Kicking him off the team permanently would be too harsh. I think making him go to prep school and doing some community service and staying out of trouble for a while is the way to go here. Give him another chance but make him earn it.

The story in The State newspaper today about what transpired seems bizarre. I think there is more to the story than we know at this point.
