If nothing really counts this year, then punishment shouldn't count

No one loses eligibility, losing teams get a bowl, bowls cancelled, players opting out and much more. So with that being said, is it really a punishment for LSU to self impose a bowl ban after this type of season? Thats kind of lame for NCAA to accept that. They have a losing record, players have opted out and it feels as if this has been a glorified spring season against other teams. So LSU knows there is nothing really to lose and there is no real punishment here to say they will self impose a bowl ban this season. It is really pretty pathetic on their part, but then again this is the school that still employs Will Wade and want him to stay no matter what. The NCAA should not accept that punishment.

The NCAA has not said if that will be enough of a punishment or not... Teams self impose post season bans all the time and the NCAA still
Imposes additional penalties.

Agreed. If I had to guess, there will be several teams taking themselves out of bowl consideration this year. For LSU to do it as punishment seems weak and shouldn't be considered part of any punishment coming their way.

LSU's punishment should be two bowl games this year! It's clear they don't want to go to a bowl.

I agree, however the NCAA should be strong enough to tell them that their punishment was a weak effort and that it will not bring about any leniency. NCAA should look at it as a slap in the face that LSU thinks it is doing something good. They wont, but they should.

Yeah NCAA is a feckless meaningless organization at this point. FBS sports all need to “fire” them.
