--MarShawn Lloyd was at practice and in a jersey but not in shoulder pads and wasn’t going through drills with the team during the open portion of practice. He was working with the training staff on his lower body. Lloyd’s dealt with injuries and bang ups this year.
--Another few missing pieces today at practice was Jordan Strachan, who did not appear to be at practice Monday. There are a few reasons he could have been absent. Obviously COVID is a concern currently across the country or he could have opted to forgo the bowl game or been one of the three suspended, although he was in-line to start this week and Shane Beamer mentioned none of the three suspended players were starters or key contributors.
--Not saying they weren’t there, but I didn’t lay eyes on receivers coach Justin Stepp or defensive backs coach Torrian Gray . I did see Erik Kimrey, Montario Hardesty, Mike Peterson, Greg Adkins, Clayton White, Shane Beamer and Pete Lembo. I didn’t see Jimmy Lindsey either but the defensive line was working further away from where media got to watch practice.
--Jaheim Bell was in a blue non-contact jersey. Joey Hunter and Dylan Wonnum were both at practice but not dressed out. Will Rogers and Davontae Davis appeared to have yellow jerseys.
--Both Zeb Noland and Colten Gauthier were out there running with the quarterbacks. In preparation for Sam Howell, Jake Helfrich and O’Mega Blake were wearing No. 7 to mirror North Carolina’s quarterback.
--I did see both Kevin Harris and Juju McDowell out there working with the running backs. Dakereon Joyner, Josh Vann, Ahmarean Brown were two guys that stood out working with the receivers.
--Brad Johnson was doing work but got some attention from the training staff, as did Eric Shaw briefly.
--I’ll say this: the team seemed engaged to be there, much more than the last trip to Charlotte. Was a lively bunch this morning.
