It is going on 8 years since we beat clemmons in football. Do we have a chance this year. It's getting ridiculous if you...

Midline - you don't need to answer and I don't want you to.
But you are obviously a coach (or former one). You know too much, are right too often and cut through all the typical BS scenarios that are thought up by those who watch too much Lifetime channel on TV. God bless you. Old Carolina fans still live.
Deboer,

Let's just say that I recognize the obvious and don't allow for a certain color of glasses to cloud my vision. Now I appreciate, and even sometimes wish that I could view things in such a manner, the fan base where hope springs eternal and that no matter the recruiting rankings that we have found all the diamonds in the rough that everyone missed. But I look up at Clemson, and others. These people are serious about winning football games. In my opinion the actions of the athletic administration, the presidents office, and the BOT at USC has sent a very loud message that they are not. Heck, at the end of the day even a coach at a directional school in Louisiana didn't want the job because he knew USC wasn't willing to do what it takes to compete. I'd love to see USC win big, and win big right now. But other than getting 6-7 wins most of the time, and going to whatever junk bowl is in Charlotte, or Birmingham, I just don't see anything better on the horizon in the near, or far, future.

Look for the Gamecocks to roll the tater tots for probably the next 4 or 5 years until dabo can get recruiting back to the top 25 in about 6 years.

You mean back in the top 25 in recruiting today. They got a 5 star ath and a 4 star corner.

How did SC beat Georgia two years ago? Congrats on that win but it had less to do with confidence and much more to do with 4 turnovers and two missed field goals.
And don’t forget a big group of Georgia high school kids who were passed over. The sure way to get someone’s best is to tell them they’re not good enough. Georgia essentially did this by not signing them.

No. I think UGA wins. I think UGA will run the ball well enough to win. Clemson couldn't run last year with generational talent at QB and the best RB in their history. Doubtful to me they will have that fixed by Game 1, particularly against the UGA front 7. As for my Kirby comment, it was tongue in cheek. Although, he does occasional pull off a head-scratcher.
UGa is a 4 point dog (no pun intended) in that game for a reason. So the dawgs losing that game wouldn't really be a head scratcher. I honestly don't know enough about what each team has coming back for this coming season, to have an educated prediction on that game. However I know I will be rooting for anyone but the team upstate.

Ok, al we have to do is this: the board of directors has a secret meeting. They discuss how dog gone tired they are of losing to Clemson and unanimously agree that it is officially unacceptable. And “bam!” just like that, the series turns and we start winning. Isn’t that what many claim Clemson did? I don’t understand why we have not done that!

There are definitely lessons to be learned from that game. Georgia’s center was not very good that year, and he was lined up across from Kinlaw. It disrupted Georgia’s entire offense. Once Kinlaw left, we have been pushed around pretty badly.
5 turnovers. Remember?

Their ceiling is below Alabama. Their floor is way, way above us. Tell me how this changes.

So how did you view 2011 2012 and 2013 with the stated above?

...think about it. Eight years. That is a long time. I mean, Obama was President the last time we beat them. We've had two whole different Presidents since the last time we beat them! I just can't take this bullshirt much longer.
Time is not a reason for things to change. We will win when we decide to earn it like they always have.

Maybe I was raised with more love for the state than others. And I get it's just a sport (but I think a lot of people go further with their dislike). But regardless of what I think of our rival, I just can't comprehend that line of thinking. I will always root for the state of South Carolina against out-of-staters. I consider doing otherwise pretty close to treasonous.
You're about to be accused of not being a real fan.

I'm yet to see how Clemson playing for and winning national titles has benefitted us one iota.

Stupid...Clemson winning does nothing for SC but hurt us. And to this day no one outside of the South even knows where it is.

This.

The dreaded chicken curse is really a lack of true leadership hallmarked by a never ending propensity to make really stupid decisions.

See Tanner, Ray as AD. And, he’s still here. LOL. You can’t make that ish up.

Unfortunately, the ‘curse’, and the mediocrity that goes with it, is systemic and it doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.

The beatings will continue until the mentality improves.

Not only that but most fans don’t know what state Clemson is located. Can’t help us.

You know I'm reading your post and I'm thinking that you've got every right to feel differently than I do. Even though I would root for Al Queda against the taters and even though 99% of the Cocks I know feel the way I do (as do 99% of the taters I know in reverse), I have no right to define what makes a good Carolina fan.

Then I read your comment that anyone who roots for an out of state team against the taters is "pretty close to treasonous" and doesn't "love" the "state" as much as you and I snap back in my right mind. So let me state this as clearly as I can. Any Carolina fan who ever roots for the taters in anything is a candy-ass low down piece of crap who deserves a thousand painful deaths. Did I mention they are also gravy sucking pigs? And oh yeah, bite one!

It doesn't benefit Gamecock football in a direct way (it may help recruiting since their recruiting has jumped to a national level meaning the two schools no longer compete for recruits for the most part instead of dividing the limited pool in this area). But I do think it's good for the state of South Carolina for a public school (which your tax dollars do fund) to be so dominant. It's bigger picture. It draws attention to the state in a positive way.
Other than to wholeheartedly disagree, I'll just agree with everything @uscnoklahoma2 said.

I don't know man. Joking (though you don't seem to be joking based on your insane second paragraph) about preferring Al-Quaeda over a South Carolina institution where the overwhelming majority of South Carolinians has some form of ties seems to suggest you don't love the state very much.
Where'd you go to school?

We have at least two years to go before this is viable. Muschamp's years are costing us more than $$$.

2, at the clip they are recruiting it's going to be longer than that. Nabbed the #1 athlete in this class out of Florida just this past weekend and a highly rated DB, so we have alot more than coaching from Muskrat to overcome, we gotta recruit at or close to their level for a few years to even out the talent disparity.
