I'm not thrilled about Smart either. Bottom line, if you take the recruiting efforts and coaching from Saban away, is Kirby still fielding that NFL defense??? My guess is it's not even close, but I don't know much about him before he took over as D-cord at Ala. Reminds me of Bud Foster at VT. Where is he without Beamer? Dude is supposedly a defensive genius as well, but can't land a HC job anywhere.
