LSU doesn't always make it to Omaha but...

i really dont care what other programs are doing.....i only care what mine is doing....you are absolutely right that all programs go through down years, but this one just keeps going down and down.....im not calling for anyones head, never have said holbrook should go....i just know that if this continues, he will not be here long....if hes able to right the ship, more power to him...im just not seeing that happening

You make good points but they don't change the fact that everyone slips, even the greatest programs. We were eventually going to have a bad year.

I'm not against discussion or even people that don't feel like Holbrook is going to get it done. Just come with facts when you bash my team. That's all I'm saying.
It would take a really bad coach to screw up what we had going here so royally. And it happened. That is the bottom line. It is not just a random occurrence or "slip." It was decline that happened for a reason just like it football. There was a culture change for the worse with a coaching change and it's obvious to anyone that doesn't have their heads in sand.

Wow, this thread is pretty ridiculous. Guy1 says LSU always relevant. Guy2 proves they're not. Guy3 says LSU doesnt matter and guy2 is idiot for proving Guy1 wrong.

Bashby, you pretty much nailed it, and this is the pattern every day on this board. Posters come on here in hysterics, preaching eternal gloom and doom for Gamecock athletics, are shown data that contradict their position, then some other hysterical poster jumps in to try and redirect the thread to a totally unrelated subject in an effort just to keep the negativity going.

They're USUALLY relevant every season and currently ranked #1. Must be nice to be relevant.
Does LUS's success or not matter to us????? NO! Like I always tell my children, and they're adults now, "I don't care what your friends do.......I care what YOU do!!!!" Same scenario!

Not understanding the viewpoint that we are so high and mighty that we aren't suppose to ever have a down year! Also, the talk of we are in a downward spiral since Holbrook took over? In 2013, we finished 43-20, in 2014, we were 44-18. The math I was taught shows 2014 as a higher win percentage. Yes, we lost out in the regionals last year, compared to the supers the year before, but how many times, on this board, have we complained as to the toughness of our regional compared to others?
We have played poor baseball this season. There is no denying that. But all schools do, in fact, have down years. We have some talent in the incoming class that will help along with improvement from returnees. Some of you need to go read, or re-read the article on the home page on signee Logan Allen. Thank goodness he has the attutide he has and not the attitude some on here have.

People wanted to fire Maneri for 3 years before he won a national title. Then they win one and they didn't make it to the tournament the next year. Some people will throw any BS out there to make their point.

The last line in your post is very prophetic. Some people will.

"People wanted to fire Maneri for 3 years.......they win one and they didn't make it to the tournament the next year".

Paul Mainieri took a former great program that was headed for the crapper under Laval and had a very poor year at 29-26-1 in his first year. His 2nd year he finished 49-19-1, won the West Div. and took the Tigers to the CWS.

His 3rd year he finished 56-17 and won the CWS. The following year, his 4th, he finished 41-22 and went to a regional and lost.

The only year other than his 1st that he didn't get to a regional was 2011 and he only won 36 games but still won 16 more games than he lost. He's never won fewer than 46 games since.

I must have slept through those years that people were trying to get him fired.

Soth Carolina has been one of the most consistent programs in the nation the last 15 years! (Mostly under Tanner) That being said, I am very disappointed that the team has regressed since Holbrook has been coach but I am still willing to give him another year to turn it around before I bitch too much about the state of our program. Maybe we can have a great year next year and if not, I will be in full "fire Holbrook" mode. LOL

I haven't justified a thing. Only stating facts. I realize there are many drama queens around here that like to exaggerate. You aren't alone. The only reason I corrected you is because I think we owe it to the program we say we support to be honest in our evaluation of where they are. What you, and many like you, are doing is really no different than what they do on tigernet when we are doing well and winning. You let your emotions get the better of you and your anger deludes your assessment of the program as a whole. You can do better than that and you should. Just calm down and make sure your argument is based in fact. Shouldn't be hard for a law man.

What is your opinion of this coaching staff since you're a factual guy? I have no doubt you'll avoid that question. I'm a factual guy too. The reason we are playing bad baseball is because we have a poor coach-not because it happens to every team. There is a strong correlation between our downward spiral and the new coach in charge. And for the millionth time, I’m not involved in law enforcement-“lawman” is a reference to my last name and a nickname. I also have never posted on tigernet and do not follow their messageboard so I don’t need a comparison to them. Yes, my original comment was made out of frustration after an embarrassing loss to UT. So LSU is not relevant every year but we aren’t going to be relevant for years to come if Holbrook doesn’t get this ship corrected soon. Holbrook has not taken us to Omaha and if anything is progressively taking us further away. Look at the results. That is not an overreaction. You can give me the historical trends on every major college baseball program but it’s pretty obvious when watching this current Carolina team play that the problem is coaching-with its lack of hitting, pitching and defense. You are wearing garnet glasses if you don’t see issues with this coaching staff.

The original post was ABOUT LSU "always being relevant". Illustrates that even (other) "elite" programs can have (a) down year(s). No...we don't "care" about LSU like we do about USC, but it illustrates that no program is above slippage regardless of who is the H.C. Change(s) need to be made, but be careful w/the wholesale stuff!!
