Once again, our new media guide was bland and boring as hell. Not even one photo of the 2018 Outback Bowl trophy was featured. This requirement is so obvious. Makes you wonder what the creative staff was thinking during the process?

Back in the old days, during the Carlen years, our media guide set the standard. I looked forward to getting it every year.

I remember when Dietzel started amping up the Gamecock Club, one of his greatest achievements. They'd send you the media guide, calendars with the schedule on them, those dorky pocket protectors to keep you from getting ink on you shirts, all kinds of stuff. Of course, you got the "all-important" right to purchase season tickets ahead of the general public. That was revolutionary at the time.

Look for colleges to start doing what pro teams are doing. Sending you a voucher to pickup your media guide at the first game to save on shipping cost. Some have stopped printing them all together and now they are only available online.
