I've officially worn out my welcome here in Santee. Next door neighbor has threatened to go to the police or even kill my family after what my grandson did to his septic tank. I'm gonna hand over the deed to my property and hope that appeases him. The sweet tea well alone is worth a hundred pounds of bullion.

Luckily I've found refuge in Cheraw. Purchased a piece of property at 1640 State Rd, not too far from the Pee Dee. Was just hoping some of my friends here could offer up some advice on things to do in this beautiful northeast South Carolina haven. Is there a dirt bike track close by that my grandson can take advantage of? What's the best BBQ in town?

Thanks in advance,
Proph

All I know that you are near both the country club and the state park. Great place to be a golfer.

Did your grandson poop in his septic tank?

Cheraw is a beautiful southern town....I always think it would be a great place to retire....assuming it does not go the way of so many other small towns.

Not far from pinehurst.

For motocross it's Club MX in chesterfield 12 miles away. Multiple types of tracks, sand, clay, supercross, etc...Check out their facebook site. BBQ within driving distance in any direction.

It's a cool South Carolina town. In fact, in reviewing my college memories, this Ol' gal I dated for a few months was from Cheraw. In fact, her hometown kinda created her nickname origin: "Shesraw'!

True story that I cannot deeply elaborate on within this website!! LOL!! But it's NOT what you think by far!! See, she busted her arse on one of our skateboards after watching some us showoff out on Greene Street right in the Laurens Street crossroads area before it crosses the railroad tracks as you're headed towards 5 Points!

So there ya go - the "Shesraw" gals from Cheraw, SC!!!

Nice touch listing your home street address on a website LOL

Grew up in Cheraw, last place I lived was in Windsor Park very close to your new place. Family has since moved away and haven't been there in years, but it was a great place to grow up.

As for the BBQ, there used to be Bill's BBQ, but Hook's is now in that location. I haven't tried it. The best BBQ I have ever eaten in my life (Scott's in Hemingway reminded me of it) was at the annual Methodist church BBQ fundraiser in the spring (I believe). Whole hog, wood coals, vinegar pepper. Real BBQ. I was only a Cub Scout at the time and it is still the measuring stick for every BBQ I taste.

As for others in the area, there is Big Country Tavern in Chesterfield and Sandy Ocean in Bennettsville. Try the map on our site (link in signature) and let me know if you find any others in the area we don't have.

Welcome home.

Your close to the big town of Florence, :), just 40 miles, plenty of hotels near the convention center, and more coming, in case you need to stay over night.

Is 1640 State Road uptown or downtown?

Asking for a friend.
