NC State QB Morris enters the portal

Yep. Modern players almost all put self before team. Makes me appreciate Dak Joyner even more
All that being said, when is he signing with the Gamecocks (LOL- Be true to thine own self!!!) On the other hand, Dak has really given a lot to the Gamecocks. Hope he is elected Governor one day. He will always be loved by the fans, especially those who saw him in his finest hour defeating U.N.C. almost single handedly. (two years ago)

He owes NC State nothing.

This is the free market at work. If he can earn more, or get more from somewhere else, he should.

Name another "free market" job where you can refuse to participate and still keep your current compensation?

Most endorsement deals allow the endorser to keep their money- even if they later don't even use the product. That doesn't even matter.

A number of the NIL deals are paid in full payments to the athlete. It's not always ongoing compensation.

For athletes, like the local ones, that cut commercials for their sponsors, some of commercials run even after the athlete has moved on to the pro ranks.

Dave has clearly never run a business and conflates a "free market" with a lawless marketplace.

Athletes getting paid whatever the free market allows- "lawless marketplace"

Of course that's a lie.

Ward wants the government or the NCAA morons to step in with their expertise. LOL

Ward's feelings are hurt - a totally irrelevant fact.

That's not the case. They didn't choose to not use the product. The product decided he didn't want to play.

So he decided to sit after playing 4 games to preserve is redshirt. Then leaves for the portal.

Impossible situation for coaches.

The fans will decide how all this turns out. Once the fans realize these players don’t care about the school and will screw the coaches in a NY minute, the whole thing will come crashing down. When fans quit buying season tickets, quit buying merchandise and quit watching on TV, it will change.

I wish you were right but I don't think so. This is all set up so the elite keep being elite and the rest stay where they are or are worse. The TV ratings feed the machine and the blue bloods are what sells. Some years, there is a TCU or Washington dangled out there as a David, then Goliath kicks the tar out of him in the CFP. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

You are wrong about that. There is nothing about NIL that is free market. It was supposed to be based on the SC ruling, but it has evolved into nothing more than a Pay-for-Play system. There is no exchange in value for value which is the essence of free market transactions. Almost all of the funding for NIL comes from boosters who motivated to buy the best players for their team, not to make a profit in their business.
