So we don’t want our players to be perceived as gay? It’s some sort of insult to imply he is gay?

no it’s an insult to the gay community by pretending to be gay. same as a white person putting shoe polish on their face. it’s mockery. but... like i said, if he is gay, great! if not... bad look.
The gay people I know would think this is hilarious. The straight ones, and the ones in the closet, get their panties in a wad.

guys and gals, i’m all for a chuckle, but is noone concerned about the implications of this photo jeopardizing nick’s status for this season? i hate to say it but the media might make a field day out of this!!

Maybe he's looking for NIL sponsors? Just not sure what the hell he'd be fishing for! (-:

Hopefully he will play his position well... otherwise the attention seeking will seem kinda stupid.

It would seem it's not a smart move.

He's ironically subverting expectations because the perception of football is it's hyper-masculine and he's being cartoonishly effeminate. The humor is in juxtaposition which doesn't necessarily equal making fun of homosexuality. It's way more homophobic to assume gay people are weak enough that this is an injury that must be addressed.

No, nothing is like that, because black face has a dark history linked to Jim Crow, one of the darkest chapters in US history only surpassed in shame by Chinese Exclusion, slavery and Indian expulsion. In addition to that, it's homophobic for you to assume effeminate is equivalent to gay. I could argue he's making an ironic challenge to heteronormativity and inherent biases around masculinity and sexuality in our society. I can also assume that gay people aren't wilting pansies that need my protection from the summer heat. Paternalism is the worst bias.
