South Carolina football players preview South Carolina's matchup with Alabama...
** Bryan Edwards says it felt good to have some success throwing the football on Saturday. Just trying to execute at receiver. We've got a freshman QB so trying to execute around him. Excited for the opportunity against Alabama on Saturday. We have to treat every game the same.
** Edwards on Hilinski and Bentley: They're both great leaders. They're both great players.
** Rico Dowdle says there are strong similarities between Alabama's defensive scheme and South Carolina's, since Muschamp is from the Saban coaching tree. That can be an advantage for a running back since you know what to expect.
** Dowdle says there were a lot of big holes created by the offensive line against CSU. Need to run the ball well this week too to take some pressure off of a young QB.
** Cornerback Jaycee Horn, asked about top wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, says that's the matchup you want as a competitor. You want to face the best. Their entire receiving corps is very good.
** Horn says that he was recruited some by Alabama. They were in his final three. There are similarities between how Muschamp and Saban coach.
** Javon Kinlaw on the Alabama OL: "It's going to be big on big." Alabama has a big line and they're good. Treat every game the same, but looking forward to the challenge.
** Kinlaw says that Tua is a good passer, but he can also make you miss. He can throw on the run and you have to keep your lanes as a pass-rusher.
** Horn on Tua: He's real good with his legs and can extend plays. He has a good arm and puts the ball where only his receivers can get it and he has great weapons around him. You have to finish the play against them. They have a lot of speed outside and will beat you with double moves.
** South Carolina kickoff specialist Will Tommie says he knows Alabama has great kickoff return men and that they have to do a great job of kicking it to the right spots against them.
** Lots of questions today about the win over Alabama in 2010, but the players aren't biting on it. The staff hasn't talked about that game this week. Several players say they've seen clips from the game over the years, but they were all young when it happened.
