** Senior safety J.T. Ibe on his pec injury: "I feel good." Says he didn't participate fully today, but has been working in with certain drills and expects to be able to play Saturday.

** Ibe says they've watched some spring game film and high school film on quarterback Sam Howell, but there's obviously not much out there to watch on him. He's a talented player, though, with a big arm.

** Bryan Edwards says that Josh Vann has matured as a player. He's more comfortable and is running around and playing fast. He's playing outside and in the slot.

** Jaycee Horn says you have to be a good QB if you're starting as a freshman. He's got a big arm and is athletic. You can't take a lot from high school film, but you can see how a QB throws and how he runs. North Carolina's receivers are shifty.

** Horn on John Dixon: "He has a lot of talent" and plays with feistiness to him. He's going to compete with anybody. He's the type of guy I like.

** Javon Kinlaw in rare form today, cracking jokes with the media and in a great mood. He's most excited about "being out there with the guys."

** Kinlaw on his journey so far: "I'm just a kid trying to make it happen. ... I'm proud of myself, but I'm still not where I want to be. There's still a lot of work to be done."

** Tavien Feaster says that he hasn't been told who will start at running back Saturday. "That's up to Coach Muschamp and Coach Brown."

** T.J. Brunson said he’s adjusting well to the WILL linebacker spot, saying the biggest difference is he’s playing in space a little bit more and not having to set up the defense as much with Ernest Jones now at MIKE.

Jake Bentley (from Collyn Taylor)

--In terms of what Sam Howell will be feeling Saturday, it's a lot of nerves starting as a true freshman and he fell back on his experience playing when he started as a freshman against UMass.

--This is the most confident he's felt heading into a season and wants to play a lot better at Bank of America. Offensively, they've done a much better job taking care of the ball, especially in the red zone.

--Taking care of the ball is priority number one and then the Gamecocks want to make a lot more explosive plays than they were the last time out.

--In terms of the running game, Thomas Brown's done a really good job coaching the running backs and thinks the running game will be really improved heading into the season. In the SEC it's hard to have one workhorse running back over a season. Having two or three guys able to contribute can take some of the pressure off each guy. It also helps competition in practice.

--Offense has been really smart in terms of taking risks this camp. They've been smarter about protecting the ball and knowing when to try and force a ball and when not to.

--Bentley's expecting a few new things from UNC Saturday with a new staff and some new wrinkles. They're watching some UNC film to get an idea on personnel but watching some Army film, and "anything we can get our hands on" to prepare for UNC's new DC.
