OT Pray for the people in Charleston

Very well said. Not to mention that the label of "hate crime" has entered the picture, as I'm sure this has been played up all day long and will continue to be used by those who wish to race bait. Murder is murder, no matter the motivation of the individual(s).

What the HELL is wrong with you? How many black people need to be murdered in an OBVIOUS hate crime for you to see it like it is! Open your GODDAMN eyes and see what's around you!

We fly the Confederate Flag over the State House, knowing it makes blacks uncomfortable, and tell them to get over it. When they get killed by police running away from them in Charleston, we tell them "don't run away next time". When 9 black people are killed in their own church by a clear racist in a racially motivated attack, we just say "well the witnesses probably lied to race bait, and it's an attack on christianity instead!"

When will white people wake up? I don't know. I need to move out of this cesspool of a state.

That has to be one sick and evil individual. Prayers said for the innocent victims, family and the community.
Al Sharpton will only agitate for all the wrong reasons and make things worse. A good guy with a conceal carry might have saved lives.

Your NRA propaganda sickens and disgusts me.

Up until now I've avoided every conversation about the Charleston murders except the one where we help, pray, and grieve for the friends and families of those affected. Using this tragedy, or any tragedy as political leverage is despicable. That said, I believe there are some glaring issues that at least need to be talked about at this point.

Flying the Confederate Flag in front of any State House in 2015, even in the name of heritage, is beyond me. It's embarrassing when every major political figure in the state talks about the sorrow they feel, about how racism is evil and how black and white need to come together more than ever...and then they walk past that flag on the way to work the next morning.

I've never had an issue with the flag one way or another, but this unfortunate spotlight has pointed out some pretty scathing political hypocrisy in SC. You said it well Gamecawks, why do we fly a flag that clearly offends 30% or our state's population? Yes it's a symbol of history and heritage, but thanks to the KKK, it's also the most iconic symbol for hate in this part of the country.

Where I disagree Gamecawks, is white people needing to wake up and SC being a cesspool. I think it's clear by the way Charleston has handled this that we are doing better than most. And I think you'd be surprised by how many white people feel exactly the same way you do.

I will second this post!!

Now that he has confessed can they just put him in general population at the Charleston county lock up..?

That's the problem Charlie, everyone wants to avoid the nose their face so to speak. Time to get it out where we can all see it, short term discuss it and address it. Including the flag crap. Which is what it is, flag crap. JMO. Get rid of the damn thing, put in a museum somewhere and move ON!!!!!!

We started out talking about this evil act by a monster and it turns into get rid this , get rid of that... Symbols don't comment these crimes... It's evil people who do don't have a souls...

Assign blame to where it should be and that's evil monster sitting in jail...

We don't need to know what made him do, just put him down like rabid dog....

Really world, that's the best you could come up with. Disappointing and shallow. We all know the damn Civil War is over. We all know our society is continuously morphing towards more diversity. This dumb as and his twisted take on life is that Americans of African decent are wiping out our race. Really?!!! Our race and ethnicity is morphing and evolving into a more DIVERSE ethnicity. You know, the same thing we hung our hats on when we created this country and won our independence from Britain. Now I would like to move on from ignorance and the fervent violence it brings to just being caring, diverse human beings with a single goal. The damn flag needs to go the way of the dinosaur. It would be a damn good start.

ya know,, the american government did some pretty crappy things to the indians,, maybe we should ditch old glory due to the injustice the american indians faced?

Uh, I am American of Native American decent. Not full blooded, but enough. Troll somewhere else losers.

Good thoughts Saltlife, Unfortunately, people will never learn what they don't want to know. Instead of even considering what you wrote, they will always try to deflect to something irrelevant in order to avoid thinking about it.

I hope you continue to be right, BatGirl. I worry about the funerals. Hell, I worried about their worship tomorrow. I worry that that horrible Westboro Baptist might decide to rear its ugly, collective, hate-mongering heads... I worry too much because I love my state and want it to always do its best. This has been a hard 3 days, probably the hardest in my memory. My daughters are upset, and they are out West. One went to CofC. She just heard today about this killer originally planning to shoot up The College.

I need a glass of wine...

This kid is an evil punk and a coward.

I pray that he gets the death penalty and that it is carried out as soon as possible.

As a Charleston resident, I am proud of they way that everyone has pulled together. Let's hope and pray that outsiders don't come down here and tear us apart.

I'm proud that the people of Charleston didn't turn this into another Ferguson or Baltimore...

But I do have a question.. I heard Al Sharpton came down to Charleston, but didn't not hear a word in the news...

I wonder if the news didn't give him the air time to stir up the crowd or did he leave when he didn't get money...

I have no idea but we don't need that con man in town.

He was here. I saw pictures from outside Mother Emanuel on Thursday with him in a prayer circle. Nothing else of him though, which IMO is good.

Supposedly that stupid WBC group is headed down here. I doubt the fine citizens of the Lowcountry will let them get within 2 miles of any of the funerals. ;)

That's because he didn't like what was going on during the unity march. Great job Charleston. Notice national news media didn't even cover this. I think the police officer is the Police chief of Charleston in the second pic.

Remain very proud of the way Charleston has responded to such a horrible act. There currently is too much community solidarity being shown for the professional instigators to get solid footing. I would love to see the same number of people that were on that bridge to surround that handful of idiots from WWB church and just walk them right back out of their town. Stay strong Charleston!
