Played pretty well in the 2nd half but Huskies are incredible. They win so easily it's almost anti-climactic. However, we will see them again in Final Four or title game!
ding, ding, ding we have a winner. UConn had a great shooting night--even by their standards.Originally posted by 85alum#:
You don't have much of a chance to beat a team that shoots 83% from 3-point range, which is what UConn was hitting at one point in the first half. Heck, I didn't think a team could do that if they stood on the court by themselves.
That's nothing new. Everyone's does that against us. The difference was UConn's unbelievable efficiency on the offensive end. We won't face another team that comes close to them in the category.Originally posted by sanfordcock:
Expect TN to play the same game. Pack the lane and force us to shoot and hit the three.
Oh I agree. There's no way they can consistently shoot 73% from 3 point range game after game. No way.Originally posted by CliffordII:
As far as you go, 85alum, u have a point about the unstoppable quality/the starting five UCONNladies ALL being good shooters.
BUT, even the UCONN COACH said that (his game-before benching of TWO of his starters helped result in) ALL FOUR OF HIS BEST STATERS--ALL FOUR bringing their "A" game IN THE SAME NIGHT. In other words, that kind of crystaline brilliance probably won't happen EVERY time they play the Gamecocks.
(ALSO, if they play again this year, don't you think freshmen Asa Wilson and Bianca Cuevas will have grown ?
If/when the Lady Gamecocks play UCONN again in this spring of 2015, who do you think is going to be the most pissed off and determined ? AND who is going to benefit more from, this time playing in a neutral site ? I think the Gamecocks have a good shot down the road w/ UCONN II.
(Also, I think Coach Staley is going to start putting two of her best players in the game FASTER, than to keep keeping them on the bench, She has been bringing them into the game, together, after some minutes of play. She has been "letting them absorb the game plan of the opponents, etc." while just sitting on the bench at the beginning.)
