has many Gamecock fans thinking more bad results. Personally, based on the talent and coaching upgrades I think we get back to being a very good team. Tell me which teams have such overpowering talent that we cannot compete against? Not just because the are storied programs but list the players. We are in good shape for a great season in my opinion.

I get a similar sense regarding the upcoming season, and feel we'll rebound very well, as far as the quality of our play. I just don't know how well that'll reflect in wins vs. losses with our schedule, however.

The talent level across the board is a lot closer to a 9-3 team than a 6-6 team. We've made upgrades to our areas of weakness on the DL and we've made upgrades to the coaching staff on the defense. Only question mark is Connor Mitch, but that's just due to inexperience. Mitch has the potential to be a very good QB....he's certainly not lacking in abiliity. If he can step up and lead the team on gameday, I really think we can get to 9 wins this year. Realistically, with our schedule, an 8 or 9 win regular season....then win a bowl game....would be a nice bounce back that I believe is possible.

As for 6-6 or 5-7....yeah, I'm sorry, I'm not ok with that. No reason for a Spurrier-led team with the talent we have to win only 5 or 6 games. We underachieved last year, but I don't see it happening two years in a row.

Spurrier has lost at least 5 games in 7 of his 10 seasons here. That's the norm and not the exception.

I still have faith in and fear of Spurrier - I don't like the guy at all, but - the guy has been uncanny and likely will remain uncanny - when he looks like he's going under for the third and last time - he pulls another star right out of his rear and rises from the rubble. Even tho some losses have happened, So Car is one of only a couple of teams that I would not bet against until that last few seconds show on the clock -

And, all that is from a

With the players we have coming in and the new Defensive Coordinator we will be better than last year.

No way these are wins.....
A&M
UGA
Tenn
Clem.......very difficult
Mizzu......loss with a very good QB.
LSU.........very difficult.

Rest are possible but difficult with an unproven QB.

I will give you last year and that's it. He came into a tough situation the 1st 3 or 4 years.

To me, the 49 wins in the last five years, which includes the defensive travesty of last year, is more relevant than 2005-2008. Seriously, other than Sidney Rice or Kenny McKinley, who would be a starter on offense this year from those teams? On defense we had some good players (Brinkley brothers, Norwood, etc.), but the problem back then was the offense struggled.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I think a new normal has been established. Just like it was unrealistic to believe we'd keep winning 11 games.....I don't believe we've regressed all the way back to mid 2000's and winning 7 games every year. Guess we will find out soon enough.

Lol at Clem.....very difficult. The taters wouldn't win against any of those teams you just named and certainly not against us with that defense they are getting back.

I agree with you Manafold I think we are looking at a great season. We have a lot of highly recruited talent on this team. Hopefully Hoke can get them playing like we thought they would coming out of Hs

Tend to agree.... I think the unproven QB thing is going to be huge. Although I always feel we can beat the Taters.
