South Carolina practiced for roughly two hours Thursday at Charlotte Latin High School in its final padded practice of the year. They'll have a walk-thru Friday but this was the final practice officially of the year.
Some observations:
--Today Josh Vann was taking reps at punt return today. Bryan Edwards was also back there and the two were the main guys fielding punts. Vann was one of the guys Edwards beat out for that starting job this year in fall camp.
--With a lack of bodies on the front line, Shameik Blackshear was working exclusively with the BUCKs in practice sharing first reps with Bryson Allen-Williams.
--Rosendo Louis Jr. and Keir Thomas were both in yellow jerseys still but did a lot of stuff, including some team drills where they had contact. Louis was seen with a brace on one of his shoulders during practice, which is an injury that bugged him in camp.
--Hank Manos seems to be the starter at center.
--On the defensive line, Kobe Smith is still getting first-team reps along with Blackshear. Israel Mukuamu is working with the first team at cornerback as well with Keisean Nixon out with a neck injury.
--Nixon was back at practice after I didn't see him yesterday. He was in a neck brace and spent some time with Javon Kinlaw watching on the sidelines.
--Mentioned it yesterday, but A.J. Turner is still working with the cornerbacks. He's been shadowing Rashad Fenton in practice. He had a pick to end practice. Jaylin Dickerson was also working with the second team safety group and looks fully healed after tweaking his hamstring against Ole Miss.
--2019 signees Jaylen Nichols and Derek Boykins were on hand at Charlotte Latin to watch practice along with 2021 target Will Shipley.
--Deebo Samuel was also there watching and taking in practice.
