I think Wilkes redshirted one year and for some reason I think it was somewhere in the middle of his career (not his freshman year) so if that was the case, his sophomore year would have been in 81. I'm going from memory on this so I'm not sure. Two of UGA's studs in 1982 was Jimmy Payne and Freddie Gilbert. In 1981, they had a Nose Guard named Eddie "Meat Cleaver" Weaver who was probably their best DL.Wilkes was a senior in '84 as I recall, making him a soph in '82 (the Richard Bell season).
