I keep hearing the talking points about...the state that Spurrier left us in...but it has been 3 years now. Those are excuses. The year that we went 3-9. One of the three teams we beat was UCF. They lost every game that year. They have gone undefeated last year and looks to do the same this year. I know people will say their conference doesn't compare to SEC but, they we're the worst in their conference.. All Spurrier's players have about cycle through but, it seem the ones left are the best players on the team. Last year and this year. I feel like it's a slap in the face when they basically say as a fan our expectations are too high. 107.5 The Game...What y'all think?

Conference matters when you are recruiting and finishing near the Top 20 in the country but 9th in your own conference. That makes it a lot harder to catch up.

UCF is in a conference when they can out-recruit most of the other teams fairly easily being in a talent-rich state like Florida. UCF has a lot to offer compared to other schools in the AAC. We have a lot to offer as well, but at best we are on par with most of the other schools in this conference.

Get the point, and it should challenge our program seeing other schools have success quicker than we have had. But there was no way we could come close to duplicating what they’ve done.

I agree with what you are saying 100%...I'm just saying you can't say we should've beat Florida and then turn around and say Spurrier left us in bad state. When his players are the best on the team and they should've beat Florida. I just don't think those two things go together.

You have to be somewhat realistic too I mean Gamecock fans have waited generations for a championship and it hasn't happened. Muschamp has a hard job and Clemson and UGA being elite at the same time makes it more difficult

I just looked at UCF first game depth chart. Their starting Corners and Safeties all were redshirted. That's how you build depth. When Boom took the job he had to go JUCO and transfer route to field a secondary. When guys are only in the program 2 or 3 years it's hard to build depth. Not one of our DBs on the first game depth chart 1st string or 2nd were redshirted. Boom inherited a mess.

With all due respect...I see what your saying but, you missing my point...

We should've beaten Florida, Kentucky, and A&M. I'm Sure you'd agree with that...it can't be that he need time to we these games because those schools are only going to get better.

I'm curious do you think that Spurrier would have won these games with the exact same roster?

If you say we should’ve beaten those teams you must also take into consideration the Tennessee and Missouri games. They were about as close as you can get. So IMO all 5 are grouped into the same classification.

The same was true last year. These past two seasons have been very strange in that we could have gone 10-2 or 5-7 without being significantly better, or significantly worse, than we were. A lot of close wins and close losses, against very mediocre teams. These are the easiest two years of scheduling we have seen since we joined the SEC and are likely the easiest we will ever see. Next year, things get real.

I remember Spurrier losing his fair share of games that he should have won. Kentucky twice and losing to Vandy when we were #6 in the nation. We would have gone to ATL more if he had only won these games.

Champ is on pace with Spurrier's record in his first 3 years and is the only coach in our history to go to a bowl in his first 3 years.

The FL loss stung, but no one in the nation is saying that Muschamp isn't getting it done- except some of our fans. The coaches, the players, and the fans all have a right to be disappointed, but our depth chart was so depleted on defense that they actually considered starting Shi Smith on D. He could have done it, but that is a desperation move. These coaches did the best they could and it wasn't enough. We lost. We can still get to 8.

UCF didn’t just pop out of thin air either . Remember the year we came from behind and beat them they went 10-2 and finished in the top 10 with Blake Bortles . Also Spurrier has been gone for 3 years , that excuse Is over . Champ has had 2 full recruiting classes and in all honesty I’m not seeing the talent level being that much better than Spurrier last year . Also , the OP is correct , Deebo was a Spurrier recruit , Edwards was commited before Spurrier left , Skai Moore carried the defense last year . This incoming class will make or break Muschamp . Mark my words . If we don’t have 5 for 6 difference makers in the class Muschamp will be coaching Pee Wee football in 2020.

Those three years of glory under Sourrier were the best thing to happen to USC football. And the worst when it came to long term expectations. During that time, USC was good. No doubt about it. But Clemson wasn't yet the machine they are now. UGA was under achieving which led to Richt's firing. UF was beginning to slip. And Tennessee was a mess. Those circumstances helped USC immensely. Now USC isn't quite where they we're talent wise. Clemson is elite. UGA is elite. UF is getting things back together under Mullen. And I believe UT will be much better under Pruitt. Not to mention that Kentucky is having their best year ever. USC will get better. But it is going to take time. Even at that, getting to an SEC championship level may be hard to achieve. History is prologue.

Remember.... our high expectations affect the quality of our fandom...if they are too high we are not true fans, an opinion voiced with verbal aplomb by our "true" fans..
