Game was on this morning. Georgia beat us 13 to 10. It was the game George had the costly fumble late in the game. It was cool watching Big George and Herschel Walker run the football.

Coach Carlen said on his tv show after the game that the fumble was his fault because he played George when George was hurt. Georgia went on to win the national championship that year, they'll never let you forget it.

They stomped George's fingers every time he went down.

UGA got top play #7 Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. While #3 Pitt played us in the Gator.

Pitt would have beat UGA.

That was my senior year. George showed me the bite marks on his hands the week after the game. He said what happened in the pile was brutal. We did a write in campaign to ABC to get the game on national TV. I think it was the second time we had been on national TV.

Wish I could see it. Anyone know if it will be shown again. I look at the SEC channels fairly often but rarely see anything that I want to look at again these dull days.

It was a big deal to be on TV back then. It was my junior year and the thing I remember is the cable going out in the 3rd quarter. The only highlight offensively was Carl West TD run and we didn't even get to see it.

The interesting thing about that game is you notice how small the interior OL and DL were back then. 240-260 lbs were the normal. George and Herschel would go into the pile and were much bigger than all the LB's and almost the same size as the linemen. It's funny how we always say "Big George", and he was big. But Marcus Lattimore was only a few lbs. lighter than George. The difference is that Marcus did not look big because of the mammoth size of the other guys on the field around him. As far as that game, it was a heartbreaker for me.
