The error you're making is that we haven't had 1 1/2 errors per game. That's why we're still ranked as high as we are.
Another error some of you make around here is treating college baseball like it is MLB...when it isn't even close.
We are one of the top teams in the nation. Where will we end up? It's anyones guess right now. But I'm almost positive we'll make a regional, probably host one again, and we have enough talent to advance deeper. It all depends on how we are playing come May and June.
Now as to the errors, yes the majority of them were committed by one player. I'm not sure if it's mental or physical. But what I am sure of is 1) he is one of our most productive batters and 2) the only way to improve is by playing. You don't just pull one of your proven and most productive batters out of the line up without giving him a chance to work through whatever is going wrong right now.
The only question is how long do you leave him out there before you make a change. I don't believe it would be out of the question for them to have him split time in the outfield with another true outfielder that they have confidence in hitting at a decent average (assuming we have one) and re-entering him when they need him at the plate.
But until then I understand what the coaches are doing and respect their reasons for doing it, unlike some people around here. I think they deserve that much respect until closer to the end of the season. They surely don't deserve these outcries of doom and desperation after every loss.
Then again, if we were undefeated the only post on here would be about last years pitiful football defense.
