Shane Beamer arrived into town today to meet with current members of South Carolina's football staff as well as players on the team.
Individual meetings with coaches and support staff will continue tonight.
Beamer and athletics director Ray Tanner met with current team members in the 3 o'clock hour; there were no other current staffers present for that meeting. Beamer introduced himself and stated that he would be in Columbia until tomorrow. One interesting note we learned is that Beamer did note that he's going to return to Oklahoma to finish his duties coaching with the Sooners. We are not sure as of this writing if that means through the regular season or also through the Big 12 title game, which is on December 19. We'll have more on the logistics behind all this later, but we know Beamer is doing a ton of work on South Carolina even in the midst of that.
During the meeting, Beamer spoke with the team a lot about building a longstanding culture where guys love to play for the Garnet and Black. The players were told that they should be considered a family. He also told the guys that he will be speaking with them individually and to talk about things stretching beyond football.
