Wanted to pass along a few notes from the weekend after the hoops game Friday night and then the Gamecocks landing a top 500 prospect in the 2021 class.

As far as visitors are concerned, the Gamecocks had two primary visitors in a win over Gardner-Webb, both in-state guys.

Gray Collegiate 2021 guard Chase McDuffie made the trip down to Colonial Life and spent some time talking with Chuck Martin pregame and met with the staff. He's a guy that hasn't been on the radar but hopped on late. He didn't play much last year, averaging 6.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Gamecocks also had another 2021 guard in for a visit in Robert McCray, who they've seen a lot of already in the recruitment process and have had their eyes on for a little bit. He's also teammates with current 2020 signee Patrick Iriel at AC Flora.

The Gamecocks added a top 500 prospect third baseman Thad Ector out of Georgia Saturday night, the seventh top 500 kid to commit in the 2021 class. He's considered the No. 14 overall third baseman in the class and the No. 273 high school prospect in the class.

His bat speed is pretty good and he's in the 91st percentile for exit velocity in the class and is a toolsy guy who should make an impact once he gets to campus. The Gamecocks have two other corner infielders in the class with Cooper Kinney and Vytas Valincius, who could move more to first base once he gets to campus.
