Yes.He points out that SEC teams with their schedule and possibly 9 conference games, will have more losses. I hope that doesn't affect the number of teams from the SEC that are chosen to whatever format of post season becomes. Would a two loss SEC team make it if there's a one loss team from a much easier conference schedule?
Depends on the situation. For instance I do not believe a 2 lose sec team gets in over a one loss Clemson vs a 2 loss sec. I’m not a Clemson fan just calling it how I see it.Yes.
Strength of schedule in a revamped SEC could put a two-loss team in, depending on specifics.Depends on the situation. For instance I do not believe a 2 lose sec team gets in over a one loss Clemson vs a 2 loss sec. I’m not a Clemson fan just calling it how I see it.
Florida got in the BCS Championship Game (and won, handily) with 2 losses.Strength of schedule in a revamped SEC could put a two-loss team in, depending on specifics.
If they had a category for Wit he’d win it walking away, maybe the last of a true breed. If SOS was in the Olympics. I’m not sure he would take a silver or bronze metal
So there you go. A 12-team playoff and a stout league make such an eventuality even more likely.Florida got in the BCS Championship Game (and won, handily) with 2 losses.
Since he left the program in shambles, I just don't care what he says.
He screwed up by trusting his no good son to basically run things. Especially recruiting in general. I hate it happened as I'm a diehard gamecock, but I completely understand someone trying really hard to help their son make it big time. And considering he basically gave us the best 3-4yrs of football in the 100+years of football at the school.Since he left the program in shambles, I just don't care what he says.
Exactly. So there you go. A 12-team playoff and a stout league make such an eventuality even more likely.
Austin should apply for immunity from the rest of the stateThe one thing I don't like about joining the SEC is listening to Finebaum. Maybe he knows what is going on in the Southeast, but whenever he says anything about what goes on in Texas he is always 100% wrong.
Or maybe secede.Austin should apply for immunity from the rest of the state
Not really. The one thing I don't like about joining the SEC is listening to Finebaum. Maybe he knows what is going on in the Southeast, but whenever he says anything about what goes on in Texas he is always 100% wrong.
Yeah, he just quit on USC after building great teams and having great records including a Top four finish one year. I thought USC had arrived and was gonna stay relevant.Since he left the program in shambles, I just don't care what he says.
12 then 6 then 3 teams, who gets the bye?So there you go. A 12-team playoff and a stout league make such an eventuality even more likely.
Sad that some can't seem to remember how he was our coach during the best years this school has EVER had. And I'll add that Muschamp's best years were with SOS's players.Since he left the program in shambles, I just don't care what he says.
He may could have hired Mack Brown, who in retrospect would have been a good hire at least for a few years....but was definitely not a popular choice among the fanbase IIRC. Riley was off the table shortly after we made contact....no chance at that point.Yeah, he just quit on USC after building great teams and having great records including a Top four finish one year. I thought USC had arrived and was gonna stay relevant.
He stopped caring and working. Promoting Ward to DC started it all. He could have gotten on the phone for 15 minutes and hired a great DC.
Then disaster tks to RT hiring of Beergut gold digger when he could have hired Lincoln or even Mack Brown who professed interest in the job. Hiring Mack would have been a great finger in the eye of UNC.
All I know that there would have to be multiple byes before the playoffs start and they would come from the top.12 then 6 then 3 teams, who gets the bye?
Don't make stupid post. He built the only sustained winning program USC fans have ever witnessed.Since he left the program in shambles, I just don't care what he says.
We were heading down fast way before Muschamp. Agree that Spurrier built the program, but he was also responsible for its detioration.Don't make stupid post. He built the only sustained winning program USC fans have ever witnessed.
It is not his fault Tanner hired Muschamp.
Spurrier has nothing to do with the pitiful condition our program has been the past couple of years. That belongs to Muschamp. Spurrier is unquestionably the best coach in our football history. We were heading down fast way before Muschamp. Never said that Spurrier was responsible for the past couple of years.....but he is responsible for the quality and status of the team that lost to The Citadel. He made some horrible, lazy hires and once all that SCHS talent dried up, got very lazy in the recruiting....the fact that he wanted to protect certain defensive coaches didn't help.Spurrier has nothing to do with the pitiful condition our program has been the past couple of years. Start with 12 teams. Top four get a first round bye. That leaves eight teams to play in the first round. The four winners then are seeded against the four bye teams.12 then 6 then 3 teams, who gets the bye?
The ole ball coach saw the program was slipping. Spurrier was 70 years old. He realized he had already accomplished all that he was going to accomplish. He had no desire to do another rebuild. So he didn't stay around. He said it was time for a new man to take over.Never said that Spurrier was responsible for the past couple of years.....but he is responsible for the quality and status of the team that lost to The Citadel. I said he was responsible for the quality and the status of the team that lost to the Citadel....not the gameplan. Spurrier wasn't even in the state the day we lost to The Citadel. That totally lame game plan belongs to Shawn Elliott.
Elliott had a superior team and still lost to The Citadel. He failed to prepare the team to play against the triple option. You can not blame that on Coach Spurrier.I said he was responsible for the quality and the status of the team that lost to the Citadel....not the gameplan. He was the coach who began the season....that was his team.
Love the mental gymnastics....but, no, that was Spurrier's coaches and players, period. Also, it goes without saying that Spurrier was anything but a defensive coach.Elliott had a superior team and still lost to The Citadel. He failed to prepare the team to play against the triple option. You can not blame that on Coach Spurrier.
Yes it was Spurrier's coaches and players, but without Spurrier. Win or lose, they have to be responsible for the preparation of all games after Spurrier left. No "mental gymnastics" required.Love the mental gymnastics....but, no, that was Spurrier's coaches and players, period. Also, it goes without saying that Spurrier was anything but a defensive coach.
Respectfully, you are correct but that was only the culmination of several mishaps and mistakes. Once the Golden Era Spurrier staff collapsed - remember, it took him about six years to get it right - success could not be sustained. Had he quit at the end of 2014 season, and it would have been awfully hard to quit off of a year that good, then we probably would have wound up with someone other than Muschamp, and quite possibly better. He screwed up by trusting his no good son to basically run things. Especially recruiting in general. I hate it happened as I'm a diehard gamecock, but I completely understand someone trying really hard to help their son make it big time. The problem is we hired muschamp next! That's where it all went wrong.
Who is your favorite former Gamecock football coach ?Since he left the program in shambles, I just don't care what he says.
Another way to say it is, he quit on his team in the middle of the season. The ole ball coach saw the program was slipping. Spurrier was 70 years old. He realized he had already accomplished all that he was going to accomplish. He had no desire to do another rebuild. So he didn't stay around. He said it was time for a new man to take over.

The next time I hear a doggie fan say something good about Coach Steve Spurrier, will be the first time I have ever heard a doggie fan say something good about Spurrier.Another way to say it is, he quit on his team in the middle of the season.
Here ya go: He was. a hell of a coach. Won a conference title at Duke. Owned UGA during his Florida years. Won at SC when no one really thought he could. I'd never deny the man's ability to coach or accomplishments. None of that changes the fact that he quit on a team he knew wasn't going to win. And that also says something about him.The next time I hear a doggie fan say something good about Coach Steve Spurrier, will be the first time I have ever heard a doggie fan say something good about Spurrier.
He did. Nevertheless, I'm not going to let that be what defines my memories of him. He took one of the toughest jobs in college football, probably tougher than he ever imagined, and slogged through to give us the greatest five year stretch of football we have ever enjoyed. That's how I will remember him.Another way to say it is, he quit on his team in the middle of the season.
