Spurrier not pursuing Golson

Man, if only we had Golson. We could probably make a run for the NC this season. We have obviously worked around academics before, (with some of the dumba$$es we have fielded) so why not now?

Your lunch break has to be over by now. Most minimum wage jobs you only get about 30 min I would think.

"if he comes to me and says he wants to be at USC, I may have to look at that.""

Did Spurrier say this? I didnt see it in the article. Could be my lack of focus though. To be honest I would feel better if we at least made an attempt even if he went elsewhere but still think we are not making any attempt. May not have made a difference anyway.
“If he came down here and said he wanted to go to South Carolina, I may have to look at that situation, but from what I understand he’s got four or five other schools he is looking at,” Spurrier said.

I see a lot of people mad because they say SOS is not going after a proven QB. If you look beyond the 14 int's and 8 fumbles, you see a QB that completed 55% or less of his passes in over half of the games he played against Power 5 teams. How can anyone think that Golson could come here and play against SEC defenses and those numbers would improve?

I think he would do better at FSU than anywhere else except for maybe Auburn. He is a one and doner much like Winston or Newton who aren't really concerned about a degree.

This tells me one thing. That Golson may not have been interested in USC and Spurrier may be saving face. Or either Spurrier is putting all his eggs in the Nunez basket. DT was a decent QB, but had a penchant for being wild high early in games, can't run a lick, and was good for two, or three, of those deer in the headlights play a game. And Mitch couldn't even scratch for playing time even when things weren't going well. And he is better than Golson? A QB that basically basically beat FSU in Tallahassee last year. Bama is reported to be interested. UGA is also interested. But yet I suppose USC is so elite and above those programs that we just choose to pass. I don't think it is that simple. if you think you have any chance at all for him, you have to take a shot.

You don't know what you are talking about, Spurrier likes Mitch. He was all set to see what his guys have and he is not interested in a Change from that mindset. Now if it was Braxton Miller.....

I bet I do. So Spurrier is actually telling everyone that FSU wants him, and McGuire is better than Mitch. Bama would take him. UGA wants him. But not USC? Please.

Geez. I wonder how a coach as stupid as some posters make Spurrier out to be has won so many games. Last I looked his wins place him all time second in the SEC behind some guy named Bryant Spurrier will be in the College Football Hall Of Fame, yet some posters blast daily like he's too dumb to tie his shoes. Meanwhile they sit behind their computer all knowing experts.

Post of the year. So far .

It's not stupid, it's called lazy and not really being focused on the future, because we know this year or next will be his last.

Neither you or I have any idea of what SOS does on a daily basis. If you have solid documentation of his being lazy and not caring about the future put it up here: otherwise, it's your opinion and nothing more.

Really, if Spurrier was here only 1 more year, would he not want Golson even more. To have that proven Qb for his last season. Now if a coach was planning on staying a few year, would he not want to develop a Qb for the future of the program?

We don't want him and he doesn't want to come here. Got it.

If only my University of South Carolina degree could have afforded me a better job :(

Honest question to all here. Has anyone identified the mental disability in people that log in as a "fan" of one site while actually being a "fan" of that school's main rival? It seems to be quite prevalent with Clemson people all over this board. I don't go to any other school's board, so I don't know if this is a common occurrence.

I can honestly say that I have never even thought that was a good idea. It has to be an indicator of mental illness of some sort, but not being a psychologist, I don't know what the term would be. It's a very weird mentality.

Again, honestly looking for anyone who knows what that illness is called.

Spurrier was not interested because recruiting Golson would have required work and effort, thus interfering with golf, beach, and other off-season activities that Spurrier enjoys.
You are 100% correct ! This will be a Beecher year.

Now it looks like Bama may be interested also. So he is good enough for Bama and FSU but not us? I know neither is very strong at QB right now but they realize if he can help us win, it makes sense. Frustrating to say the least. Mistake 1 not recruiting him out of HS. Mistake 2 not going after him now. Before people say he was not interested, when he chose not to go to UNC, he was open and we still didnt show interest. For some reason Spurrier must feel its not worth it. Know he had a lot of turnovers last year but just saw a graphic that Hackenburg and Winston had about the same amount.

We didn't go after Muschamp either so this is no suprise. Other schools can develop a true fr into a solid QB but we struggle with guys that have been in the program for 2 or three years. Almost like we don't put in enough work

Lazy is you not doing any in depth research about the subject as a whole. Lazy is you assuming things about Spurrier that are not true, just because you read some ridiculous shit on a message board and now you're repeating it. Must suck being such a dumbass.

Spurrier is not lazy IMO and obviously smarter than any of us when it comes to this stuff. Golson is a local kid and have watched him for MB and was hoping he would come here but even though I have heard some info when it comes to his recruiting, bottom line is most of us dont really know. Most of it is speculation. I am guilty of it but this place for most of us is a place where we can do that sort of thing without getting hammered. My previous post probably comes across as whining but this may work out in the long run. I am sure Spurrier feels Mitch is ready and didnt feel bringing in Golson for a year was going to be good for the program in the long run. Since McGuire is not that good at Felony St, I hope he goes there and beats the Taters.

Connor Mitch will surprise a lot of teams in 2015. I have a customer with a son that worked for ESPN radio in Raleigh and they covered his games. He said they could not keep up with his stats in the up tempo offense they played. He has a quick release and is a pass completing machine.

Dan Marino use to say there is no defense for the perfect pass and Spurrier's offense demands perfect precise throws.

If you were just watching the SEC Network @ 10:27 pm on Thursday, they had a segment on Golson with a picture of him holding the football about to throw a pass. The laces were up. Who wants a QB that throws the football without using the laces. I don't want another Dondrial Pinkins.

Regardless of what is really going on, it makes Spurrier look like he doesn't want to make the effort. Based on the reality of the football recruiting disaster that we saw this spring, this is going to be seen as another characteristic of Spurrier's lazy recruiting efforts. On the other hand, offering Golson probably wouldn't make a difference, because he wasn't coming here anyway. I suppose that we should be thankful that Spurrier made a statement about it to the media.

I guess some people should be thankful there's not a ban or blacklisting on FGF based on stupidity. I know you're happy.

Don't have to do research for what is obvious. Like Spurrier, but he is just hanging on here long enough to get Jr. a job and then he's gone. That was obvious when he made the 2-3 year comment and then tried to back track. Wait until fall, when the HBC can't decide between Mitch and a walk on.

Let's be real, only reason Spurrier didn't go for Golson was because of the SEC rules. Spurrier knows he is in trouble at qb. Call the kettle black, stop making up excuses for our coach.

I don't blame you Enahs I wouldn't admit to being a tater either. But we can still smell you. You're not fooling anyone. You cant wash that smell of cow manure off

And just how in the hell would you know that basses? You don't have a frigging fact to back up he's trying to get Jr. the job. Posters like you were looking stupid stating with no knowledge that Skip was Lou's coach in waiting. You deserve a life time of Fat Brad as coach. Ever consider the fact Gholson did not have us on his short list?

You guys bashing SOS...the only reason more thought wasn't put towards getting Golson was the SEC rules that state academic probation at any time during a collegiate career isn't acceptable.

That being said, we probably could have used the guy, but there is another good post on here discussing Connor's qualifications. I think OBC knows what he is doing.
