This UNC loss couldn’t have happened at a worst time in Will Muschamp’s career.

We were anxious to see good Muschamp defense. (The foundation of his coaching reputation.)

Anxious to finally see good offensive football from a Muschamp promotion (McClendon) and a Muschamp appointed tutor for McClendon (Werner).

And, we expected to see Sr. Leadership, poise and performance from a Sr. QB, who Muschamp and Co appear to have hitched too or sold their souls too.

We all felt we could finally win, and WOULD win the games we should win.
We felt we just may (hopefully) upset one of Bama, UGA or clemson.

But, then UNC happened.
In the face of the #1 difficult schedule in the country.
And, Muschamp is really behind now.
And, at present, he’s lost almost every single fan in #GamecockNation.

All hope is not lost here.
“Things are never as good as they seem. Things are never as bad as they seem.”

If he beats Texas A&M, that probable (and expected) loss can replace this UNC (expected win). He’s back at even for a brief moment.

That said, it will take something along the lines of the following for Muschamp to make it through all of this FEAR, and win the fans back:

To the not overly emotional, non-knee jerk fan:
1. Show good football: coaching, planning, execution, adjustments.
2. Win EVERY game we should win.
3. Be competitive in all games. (Including Bama, UGA, and clemson.)
4. Overall record isn’t key for me this season. Seeing good football with the talent we have is key.

KEY: 5. Recruiting can’t go to heck in a hand basket.

To the overlay emotional:
1. All of the above.
2. Plus.... Upset at least one of Bama, UGA, clemson.

Muschamp and Co are simply not in a good place right now, when it comes to our fan support and confidence and patience.

EDITED:
Add this in as well.....
We fans felt we just might be making up some ground on clemson. (Not that they appear to be losing ground).

However, the reality appears to say we’re stuck in neutral, or getting worse.
Either way, the competitive gap with clemson remains, or worsens.
And, this only FUELS the FEARS and impatience we USC fans are exhibiting.

Bottom Line:
Fans provide $.
$ drive the bottom line decisions.

Time will tell.
