First downs: UK had 35 to UT's 17

Total plays: UK had 99 to UT's 47

Total yards: UK had 612 to UT's 461

3rd down conversions: UK was 12/17 vs 3/8 for UT

Time of possession: UK held the ball for 46:08 to UT's 13:52

If you just looked at that stat sheet, you'd understandably think UK probably won fairly easily. I mean, holding the ball for 46 minutes?

The story, of course, lies in UT's quick-strike offense. They had TD drives of 75 yards/11 seconds, 75 yards/28 seconds, 52 yards/2:43, 49 yards/45 seconds, 47 yards/44 seconds/ That's 5 TD drives that consumed less than 5 minutes combined. Nevertheless, it'd be a tough pill to swallow to lose a game with a stat sheet like that.

Turn about is fair play. Kentucky beat Florida a few weeks ago, and the stats were so overwhelmingly Florida's that one would have thought it was a Florida rout.

Still don't like Stoops, and his anger over an admittedly bad call came close to costing them the game. His QB and UT's bad D bailed him out, for awhile.

That's like when Barbie and the orange cats topped Bama. Bama had a hire success rate on a per-down basis, but the clemson had big plays everytime they made one.

The ref throwing a flag on a coach in that situation is still baffling. Stoops must have said something pretty awful to the ref for him to do that. Right before the head ref pulled the flag, Stoop walked out a few steps and 'cordially' said something in his direction. He wasn't walking around screaming his head off.

You would think but I have known some pretty thin skinned refs that have made it all about them.

In those situations the ref has all the power and the coach has none. Stoops could have been littering him with four letter words or it could have been as little as “that’s a horrible call” and a moody ref having a bad day throws a flag.
