COLUMBIA, SC (TheBigSpur.com) - With the in SEC Network revenue and higher bowl payouts expected leading the charge for the increase, athletics director Ray Tanner told the USC Board of Trustees on Friday afternoon that he expects that threshold to be broken for the 2015-16 academic year.

It's not $100 million in the bank though as there are expenditures, too. The proposed expenditures, Tanner estimates, will be $88.9 million. Salary increases for coaches and staff total $1.98 million, cost of attendance and housing is up $1.8 million and the addition of SEC Network staff and equipment upped expenses $1 million from last fiscal year.

“We're still increasing our revenues and we need to do that to provide resources for our students,” Tanner said. “We're not No. 1 (in the SEC) in the amount of revenue we have. We do a lot for the amount of money we have, but we need to continue to provide those resources for our sports. We feel like we're going in the right direction and will try to continue to have opportunities going forward to increase our revenues.”

According to figures released by the university, the school expects over $31 million in distributions from the SEC and NCAA. Ticket sales at sporting events are projected to bring in nearly $22 million with $18.6 million of that coming from football, $1.425 million from baseball and $1.2 million from men's basketball.

The third-largest piece of the revenue pie comes from the Gamecock Club, which projects $13.8 million for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Gifts and donations will bring in approximately 10.3 million.

South Carolina currently carries $154.75 million in debt and expects it to be down next year to just over $151 million after annual debt service payments.

PAYOUT “BETTER THAN A HOME GAME": The school announced that it will receive $3.2 million in guaranteed money from playing North Carolina at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. to open the 2015 football season.

It's a hefty figure and one that Tanner says is larger than anything the school pockets from having a game at Williams-Brice Stadium.

“It's better than a home game,” Tanner said. “There are a lot of expenses at a home game. The travel to Charlotte isn't expensive. It's a very good opportunity, certainly financially, but both of our schools to have a battle at the border. I think it's a great game for all the reasons.”

Tanner said that he's fielded a lot of concerns about the ticket prices for the game, which start at $76 for upper level seats in the corner and top out at $257.50 for club seats. The schools, which receive equal payout for playing in the game, didn't have any say in the ticket prices.

“Ticket prices are high,” Tanner said. “I expect it to be a sellout before all is said and done, but it's an expensive ticket.”

SAD TO SEE HIM GO: Clemson head baseball coach Jack Leggett was fired after 22 seasons at the helm of his program on Thursday, which came as a surprise to many in the college baseball world. Tanner hasn't spoken with Leggett yet but said he hopes to soon.

“To have a coach that is a Hall of Famer like Coach Leggett to leave the profession, it's not a great day for college baseball,” Tanner said. “I under stand that's part of things that happen.”

Other BOT meeting notes -- Tanner said that he still expects the football team to play South Carolina State in the 2016 season, despite the turmoil and budgetary crisis currently at the school.

-- South Carolina produced more events on SEC Network + than any other school in the conference. Tanner said that he hoped Time Warner Cable would offer SEC Network + to its subscribers in the next few months. Each school has an “SEC Network Takeover” day this summer and South Carolina's will be on July 9.

-- Seven former Gamecocks student-athletes from the recent past came back to finish their degree this spring. Former Olympic track and field silver medalist Lashinda Demus was one who came back to finish her degree.

-- At the UCF game this season, South Carolina will celebrate 25 years in the Southeastern Conference. Current commissioner Greg Sankey will be in attendance as well as former commissioners Mike Slive and Roy Kramer.

-- South Carolina student-athletes combined to have 8,860 community service hours in the 2014-15 academic year.
