Some of the posts on tater.net about the Tillman Hall situation and
the problems at S.C. State are unbelievable.
Before some of you chastise me for even going there, It is an
educational experience to see proof that the average tater fan's
ignorance surpasses everyone's expectations.

Haven't been over there lately but are they trying to blame SC States financial situation on USC?? That WOULD NOT surprise me one bit if they did.
Small potatoes. At the height of the '5 straight' they were blaming us for the 1930's Depression, WW II, the Korean Conflict, Kennedy's Assassination, the Viet Nam War and 911.

This BS has happened numerous times and nothing is ever done. Lived in SC and NC and kept up with this saga. Thieves running the school are replaced with new thugs and here we go again.

Democratic black representative from SC had millions of federal money sent there to build something in his honor (horror) and I did not hear if it was ever completed or started.

If it becomes part of the USC system the HBCU aspect of it needs to go away. Honestly it should either way.
HBCU = Head Ball Coach University?

Just a joke, yes I do know what it means!

The Tillman Hall incident is just one of the dark secrets about this little school that has finally come to light but the school is certainly keeping it quiet. This is a real social problem that they won't be able to sweep under the rug. Clemson is the only state supported school in America whose BOT does not have to answer the state government on policy because of the way it was set up according to Mr. Clemson's will. BOT self perpetuate. As for SC State, sad situation but this is a real education problem that has to be dealt with and it appears that permanent closure might be the only option. Time will tell.

Love how one of the reps for the school said something to the affect if they shut us down they are going to regret it. Sounded like a threat and was surprised to hear an unversity official say that. Referenced a lawsuit for 500MM against the state but makes you wonder if there would be another what else.

It is totally amazing how the incompetent BoT members at SCSU are quick to point fingers elsewhere, look for more financial handouts to keep them from going completely under, and even threaten to sue the state if their money pit is shutdown, yet they seem to have absolutely no intentions of dealing with the huge elephant sitting in their BoT meetings.

Does Haley have the authority to completely remove the BoT (and the president if needed) and bring in a new group of expert financial advisors to run the school?? I think something like that is what needs to happen to save that school.

Let's be honest

who would allow their child to go to SC State if they could get in at any other college?

Their graduation rate is- and has been awful. What responsible parent would want their child going there if they had other options?

SC State's board has been made up of friends and friends of friends for years and the SC legislature has signed off on it by appointment them to the board.

They've had way too many people on their board - that don't belong on a board of trustees for any type of college.

Why aren't the state house officials who signed off on all the bailouts being held responsible?
