Opus Lounge. only knew on rosewoodI lived in 'K' ('63-'67) which was next to 'J'. It was luxury digs compared to 'J' - each room in 'K' had a wall phone and the dorm was air-conditioned! It was close to Marion Lassiter's Kollege Korner restaurant and the Opus Lounge.
'K' dorm was later renamed Douglas.

Craptastic!LaBorde 1990
Bottle rocket fights, beer, liquor and fire alarms pulled all night.
I was in L - LaBorde 69-70. "Riot Patrol" came in M (Moore?) the night of the tear gas with their badges taped over so they couldn't be ID'd and were popping students on the head with their billy sticks. The Honeycomb block of Sumter Street was covered with glass from broken bottles the next morning. I think that block of Sumter is closed to traffic now.1969-71
Anyone remember when they tear gassed the Honey Combs during demonstrations/march up Main St, Fonda on Campus, etc? IF you left the dorm to escape the gas you were subject to arrest.....crazy times.
Big Bird, Varsity Billiards provided the daily meals, pool, and pinball.
Craptastic!
I think we were in your room when SC beat NC in basketball that year.

we had a computer monitor box (I worked at Circuit City) and the 21" monitor boxes were perfect for sneaking in the half/shorty kegs. The balconies at the Honey Combs were perfect to keep a keg of beer during the winter months.
Great stuff
You can drive through it. I do all the time. Devine between the dorms and the Science School is blocked now. Also, Greene Street (from TCL to Women's Quad) is closed to traffic 24/7 now; whereas, it used to only be closed 8-5 M-F.I was in L - LaBorde 69-70. Who on this board lived in those dorms? I spent my freshman and sophomore years, 1962-1964, in building J. In those days a lot of the football players lived in those dorms. The "ole Chilli Pot cafe across the road was a unique place. It would take a clothes washing to get the smell of that place from my clothes, but the hot dogs were great! Great memories!!!
