JAHEIM BELL - Valdosta (Georgia)
July 23 update (Chris): For now, South Carolina remains in a good spot for former Florida Gators tight end commitment Jaheim Bell out of Georgia.
We've already told our subscribers that Bell is expected to take an official visit to Oklahoma over Labor Day weekend at the beginning of September.
We have a bit more to report in terms of Bell's visit plans. Florida State has been involved as of late and could be on the books at some point for an official visit, although no date has been finalized.
Bell made his official visit to USC back in June, but he's expected back on campus in Columbia for at least one game this season. We are told he will be in Columbia for the Alabama game, and it's also possible that he'll see USC match up with Florida inside Williams-Brice.
Stay tuned to GamecockCentral.com.
July 4 update (Chris): Bell decommitted from Florida on July 4, which was no surprise.
At this point, we're told that Bell is going to follow through with plans to visit Oklahoma in September, at least for now, and could take other officials. He's taken his official to USC already back in June.
For now, the Gamecocks are in the driver's seat.
June 27 update (Chris): GamecockCentral.com subscribers have known for some time that Florida tight end commitment Jaheim Bell is a strong flip candidate for Will Muschamp and his staff.
Bell took an official visit to South Carolina in June, plans of which he made public less than two weeks before traveling to Columbia. On May 30, in advance of the trip, we told readers that there were reasons to believe that the Gamecocks could pull off the SEC East switcheroo. Days later, it was noted that some close to Bell liked the idea of him in Columbia.
In the aftermath of the official visit to USC, which was in conjunction with the Will Muschamp Football Camp sessions, we heard the strongest word yet about USC's standing. We also advised subscribers to have some patience with the process.
As we have mentioned, Bell has expressed the intent to take an official visit to Oklahoma in early September. There's a belief behind the scenes that the visit to Norman may not end up taking place. Bell's next move is to participate in The Opening out in Texas, which will take place from June 30-July 3. During the 7-on-7 competition, Bell is slated to be on a team that includes USC commitments Luke Doty and Marshawn Lloyd, plus target Tank Bigsby.
Wonder if that will be cause for some early July 4 fireworks?
OFFERS: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, others.
