Im still concerned with the team this year. Glad we beat Clemson, but this is very clearly a down year for them and the Friday and Saturday games were extremely competitive. Saturday could easily have gone the other way and we could be sitting here with a series loss to a bad team.
We should be making the NCAA tournament every year and most years we should be a regional host. Not making the tournament is unacceptable and Kingston has missed it 2/4 years. He still needs to show us something beyond beating a Clemson team that is probably going to finish with a losing record this year. He's had his time to get his players in. Its time to reward the fan base for being patient.
Gotta give a little credit to clemson. Had they not fired Monte, we would probably not be where we are today. I hope they know that
Failing at cu and being a great bench coach are two different animals! You must not have much experience following sports! Why are our fans so quick to give credit to a guy who failed at Clemson?

Rick Barnes got chased out of Clemson. Id say it worked out ok for him at Texas and Tennessee. Why are our fans so quick to give credit to a guy who failed at Clemson?

The difference in this year and past years is mechanics have been maintained. That is the primary job of the hitting coach. It's been somewhere around ten years since we've seen swings maintained this far in to the season and not regress. We have been very talented in previous years until we arent. I have no doubt Monte is responsible. We have an upgrade in talent this year. I doubt Monte has done a whole lot yet.

To me itās a lot of plate discipline which we havenāt seen in years and that is coaching! From what I heard in the fall Petry was hitting no where near how he is hitting now that didnāt take 6 months!Probably so, but it's unlikely a bench coach in 6 months completely changed a program.
Petry is also a fine example of a guy with a team first attitude... something we are seeing a lot from the team as a whole. It's good to see and I do credit Kingston for that. Kingston also gets credit for putting together a good pitching staff. But those last to first offensive statistics goes to Monte imo.To me itās a lot of plate discipline which we havenāt seen in years and that is coaching! If I remember correctly, hitting and teaching same is his specialty. No doubt he has influenced as you mention. The difference in this year and past years is mechanics have been maintained. The lack of producing and developing high draft picks based on offense here has always been disapointing to me. The best swing we have had here in the last decade imo belonged to Carlos Cortez who I believe has been the only highly ranked offensive pick in recent memory. Even before him tho, high picks were too few and too far between. Heck we've had guys in the meat of our lineup recently go undrafted. That's screwed up.If I remember correctly, hitting and teaching same is his specialty. No doubt he has influenced as you mention.
lol are you just making things up at this point? Clemson certainly didn't chase Rick Barnes out. He went to a bigger school.
Even ignoring that problem, he was the HC at all those schools. The issue here is our fans seem to want to give all the credit to an assistant coach.
His wife hated our state.I'd always heard that he wanted better basketball facilities and the Clemson administration said no. He was apparently such an asshole about it. They suggested he go somewhere else... that's why he left.
What he said publicly about the school system I Pickens county was apparently only part of the story.
Personally, I don't give a shit about what Clemson coaches do, but that makes a lot more sense to me.
I donāt know about credit but I thank him for his service šWhy are our fans so quick to give credit to a guy who failed at Clemson?

I was saying we are still in top 10 in most polls. Pitching looked better last weekend, but batting looks like the last 3 years. You were sayingā¦lol
I always heard he was messing around with some of the coeds.
Yep, but probably not how you meant that on April 7th.Gotta give a little credit to clemson. Had they not fired Monte, we would probably not be where we are today. I hope they know that
We were better longer but a collapse is a collapse whenever it happens.Yep, but probably not how you meant that on April 7th.
Yea Tanner doesn't have the stones to do what needs to be done. It will all once again be chalked up to injuries and not poor coaching. Next year will be even worse. Before last night 116th in fielding percentage and 52 errors. Fielding should be a priority with two deep at all positions. You cant recruit only hitters and expect to win. No team can average 10 plus runs a game to compensate for poor fielding. Now that the hitting has gone cold there is no recipe for success. This team has STB (Sh!t the bed).... they are done, put a fork in them... Kingston is done as far as I go... he will be back next year to do the same thing... Landon Powell will not wait around to be head coach forever.
Great point.I could understand if a guy or two lost their mojo late in a season... but all of them??? What a piss poor coaching job we have witnessed so far. Yeah this is coaching.
Trademark of Kingstons teams, happens every year.Iām not sure if Iāve ever seen such a collapse. Did other teams just adjust to what we were doing? We canāt hit a lick now.
I would like to think ML could help them find the adjustment needed. Of course the players need to execute what they're taught. Could it be they are not handling playing under pressure? National seeding, regional seeding talk maybe made the stage too big for them š¤.Iām not sure if Iāve ever seen such a collapse. Did other teams just adjust to what we were doing?
