When Spurrier took over after Holtz, he got rid of 13 players to start building a winning program. Spurrier and Hoke are evaluating players and eliminating the slackers. Remember Spurrier said there were changes coming. Expect to see a much improved team this year.

Had to correct one part of your statement. Offense put up record numbers. Special teams was good, but nothing special.

I think the coaches are making the right decision getting of some of these guys. I worry that our depth is taking a hit. I know these guys never really did a whole lot, but injuries happen, especially in the rugged SEC. Some of these big d lineman were losing could at least plug a whole. They must really like the early enrollees is all I can figure.

I am not certain that all should be classified as slackers. Some may have given it their all, but were simply not D1 material. That reflects back on recruiting evaluation and some of it just boils down to the luck of the draw.

Much improved next year...I don't know. From a statistical analysis, we might not be too much better on defense. However, the eye test will likely be much better. What frustrated USC fans that actually use their brain was the lack of intensity. A poor defense could've been handled a slight bit better if we saw some kids giving everything they had, but we didn't get that.

I have given Ward credit for his ability to close on recruits in GA. However, the appearance right now is that he was closing on non-SEC caliber players. That gives me concern. That also better not be the case for the group of recruits coming in this year. If we got another group of non-SEC caliber players coming in, then we've got trouble. We won't know that until 2 years from now.

Anyway, this is a very healthy purging going on this off-season. It is needed, and we may lose 1 or two more by the end of spring semester.

What if they weren't slackers?

What if they put in the maximum effort for their abilities but were originally incorrectly evaluated by the coaches?

Not every transfer is a player who was slack.

Don't understand what your statement has to do with the post Tony.

We will have a lot of players in the system for the first year. Even though some are JuCos it's still not easy to just get plugged in and contribute at a high level. Showing some tackling ability and recognizing a jet sweep would be a major improvement. I just don't know.
