How would've we played in a BCS game? We never won the SEC or was never ranked high enough in the BCS poll to qualify for a BCS bowl.

We were. You need to go back and look. Same year we finished technically #4 after all the bowl games. We were ranked high enough, but the BCS rules only allowed for 2 teams from any conference.

I believe that out 4th place rating was after we won our bowl game so too late to be considered for the playoffs.
