That wasn't the only reason. We missed some FT's late in the game, had a late TO that really killed us, Didn't set up that play well at all. Just a number of things that led to the downfall.
I think Dawn's amazing but it took her all season long and the first half of the final four game to finally realize Coates should start.

Coates and Wilson are an unstoppable duo - 32 points. To not start them is crimimal. Ibiam didn't play after the first 4 minutes because she's useless.
Carolina controlled the game when we got the ball down low. When we didn't our guards just wasted possessions. I hope Staley as a former guard coaches them up during the offseason, and sharpens her Xs and Os.
Helluva season regardless. Kudos to the ladies. Coulda Woulda Shoulda on this game though.

Sometimes coaches do things because of team chemistry. Seeing people question Staley is kind of funny. How many Final Fours have we been to before?

None. I don't have a problem with starting the senior during the season but when it's a top 5 matchup in the playoffs it would be nice to see your top players starting. Pretty obvious how much better we are when Coates and Wilson are on the court. Oh well. We lost. Great season.

So, you're reply is na na na boo boo how many FF's you've been to? Shouldn't the stats and accolades of Wilson and Coates be enough to verify the claim?
Now Fork, you know we have the best coaches in America right here on FGF. I'm surprised the usual minions haven't called for Staley to be fired.
I think that satisfies both sides of the argument. We've only been to 2 final 4s. In 1980 and 2015. 1980 was a long, long time ago. 35 yrs to be exact. Our 2015 season ended in the final 4, a short while ago. I'm disappointed with the loss, but still very impressed by what Coach Staley has done in her tenure with the Gamecocks.
I've heard this before but don't agree. We caught up, then got further behind than the starters did.
I don't think it helped, but the biggest reason was free throws. 7-16 is not good. Needed to be closer to 12-16 or 13-16.
That and better guard play are priorities for next year.
I can't disagree. I do think we will be better next season. Bianca with more experience will be phenomenal. Dawn can turn her into a superstar.
