Well, our Poor

Remember when Fox News' lawyers argued their programming was entertainment and not news?

Probably explains why government researches didn't find it useful in their jobs.

My sense is that in about 2 years or so we are going to learn that China was kicking our tails right now while the Trump administration is focused on 1% of the federal budget and implementing a Trump resort in Gaza while the folks that live there have to find somewhere else to live.

As part of the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce the federal workforce and break the so-called “deep state,” the CIA reportedly sent the “White House an unclassified email listing all employees hired by the spy agency over the last two years,” reported the New York Times on Wednesday.

Those hired in recent years were typically recruited and hired for their expertise in aiding missions to combat China.

The list included first names and the first initial of the last name of the new hires.

It included a large crop of young analysts and operatives who were hired specifically to focus on China, and whose identities are usually closely guarded because Chinese hackers are constantly seeking to identify them.

Watson - Even for harden trolls, isn't this about the point where you pack up your checker board and head home?

Why would Dems need to pay Politico for their information? It's the same information they gave to Politico. lol

This speaks directly to the "Liberal OGs" on this site who could not come up with one thing then liked about Biden/Harris even though they were asked repeatedly.

BOTH parties are responsible for the debt, including the current President with his tax cuts and spending.

Inflation in 2021-22 was global. And part of the inflation problem here was caused by the breaking of the supply chain, contributed in part by the mismanagement of covid by Trump, especially compared to the rest of the world. Inflation from 2023-24 slowed significantly into the reasonable 2-3% range.

I am sure you will disagree with everything I said there. Regardless, I stand by everything I said there. Not going back and forth on that. Got to go anyway. But I will quickly make an additional comment in the bitcoin thread.

I've told this story before, but I ordered a boat engine around August of 2020 (Trump administration of course) and it didn't arrive until December 2020. That was because of the major disruptions to supply chains in the United States and around the world because of COVID- and of course I paid a premium price for it even though "inflation rates" were still supposedly low.

I still recall being surprised that I could not get a bit of a deal on the engine because earlier in the year I had been told they'd negotiate with me given what I was buying and what I was paying. When it was time to order, they had no ability to negotiate on price.

And Trump didn't mismanage anything. COVID was worse under Biden and he was handed a vaccine and it's distribution. Trump did about as good as could be expected of anyone, especially when you later find out the people that caused it were the people that were giving him advice, but were being protected by Dems and deep state.

Of course a Trumper isn't going to say anything about Trump not doing a good job.

The people "giving him advice" were the people he selected to give him advice. You'd never allow a head coach to only blame his assistants and not take any responsibility. You'd rip the hell out of a head coach doing that. But in a Trumper's world, Trump never has any such responsibility- even when people he personally selects supposedly fail. Very strange-cultish.

Trump gave us the vaccine you hate. He pressured the industry to make the vaccine and release it quickly- criticizing them repeatedly for taking too much time to test the vaccine. He actively removed layers of regulations and steps they would have normally been required to go through in the testing phase so he could get the vaccine out.

He also admitted that he downplayed COVID when he knew it was more serious and more urgent.

He also spent months bragging about what a great job China was doing and how great their dictator was and how honest he was about COVID - (of course China was lying the entire time and anyone with a brain knew that)

Trump also lied about how quickly it was going to "go away" when we know he was being told the opposite. For people like me who didn't believe him anyway, that didn't matter. To people that believed him, it was a much more serious matter to believe his lie.

You mean the virus that was funded and was released by the party you wildly supported? The one that killed millions of people? That's really unfortunate news about your supply chain issues Dave.

It's not. A simple google search would show you what they were actually subscribing to which isn't just free news on their website.

Why are you ok with intentionally being wrong about something?

Gomer - Have you not seen the receipts now pouring in about COVID? The gig is up. Move your TDS to a new subject.

Men tossed outta female sports. Done

But how sick does it sound to put men into womens sports?? Who would’ve ever thought this could ever happen to begin with. In fact who ever gave this a thought PERIOD before it actually happened? This is by far the most perverted, deranged, evil thing ever done to children by our education system. These people must be rounded up and prosecuted. You can’t let them be around children in society. Protect the children, eliminate the perverts and pedophiles.

The great majority of trans people aren't playing sports in middle or high school or even trying to play sports.

In South Carolina's history, before this issue became the biggest issue in the world, the SC High School League said 5 students had petitioned to play a sport different than their gender didn't say if some of those children were biological girls wanting to play on a male team or not.

The rest of your post is deranged and silly.

The only trans person I know - my family member- isn't transgendered because someone did something. That just shows your ignorance. That's the same stupidity that some gay people have to put up with- thinking someone made them gay.

When you trim the pork the PIGS will squeal

When I worked for the SC General Assembly a number of years ago, they paid for subscriptions to various newspapers and magazines- like dozens- along with some specialty reports. They even paid 2 employees to take news articles out of those newspapers and magazines and make them into newsletters that the legislators read. Those employees also had other duties as well.

I even got to hand the newsletters out a few times to the legislators.

Indeed. I saw another website that they were freaking out about the military libraries buying subscriptions to make services and information available to service members.

The amount of misinformation being posted on this page should embarrass @Caleb Alexander.

Schools (college, private, public, high schools, etc) also do that for teachers. My wife gets a science report newsletter type publication that is a subscription resource focused on teachers that her public school buys for her.

I was in the USC library this past weekend. Now, most of their subscriptions are digital now but they spend quite a bit of money on those services- especially for specialty publications.

I remember when I was in high school, I'd go to the library at lunch at least once or twice a week to read the sports section of the newspaper or look in a magazine like Popular Mechanics.

It's just a sad state of affairs where we have such a large segment of the population that's intentionally lying about things that are so easily researchable.

Broken brain. I want to try to narrow down exactly when the blue light completely took your soul.

It's probably been about 8 months since that happened.

I will say though, I worked for state government full time for 6 years, and part time while I was in college for 2 years.

My experience was very, very different than some of the things I read on message boards.

I worked with a guy who is now in his 31st year working for the state that should have left 20 years ago for private sector employment. He had the talent to easily make double what he makes for the state. But he enjoyed his work and he enjoyed working directly with the public at the state. About a month ago I found out he's still working there.

My experience was the people I worked with in my department (outside of 1 person) were truly dedicated people who did the right thing and wanted to do the right thing. I witnessed my own supervisor turn down a free cup of coffee that a business owner offered him out of courtesy because he didn't want it to look like he was getting something for free from someone while working. I saw him do things like that a number of times and I saw coworkers do that too.

I've seen many more questionable things and decisions in the private sector than I did while working for the state. But that's just my experience.

I certainly don't sit around thinking there is no fraud and abuse in government employment or work. Of course that's not true- just like it's not true in any business.

Well. some don't know any better.

Some are just posting nonsense for fun and don't always believe everything they post because they think it's fun to post stupid stuff.

Some take snippets of the truth and spin it.

Some take outright lies from social media and believe it.

Some look up to unreliable and dishonest people that are lying to them for their own benefit.

and there are some things that are truly wasteful and abusive in government just like there is waste and abuse in a family or any business.

Projecting. Pick a post and prove it's inaccurate. That never seems to go too well for you.

Yeah but unfortunately, you and I are the only moderates on here that are willing to admit this.

The other posters in this thread have zero interest in having an honest conversation.
