Well, our Poor

Sometimes, we live too long.
I agree with you.

Regardless, it's hard for me to believe all the guys and gals I went to elementary school who are gone. I just shake my head. So many people I know who died in their 60s.

One of my best friends, whom I went to Carolina with, his mother and father lived to their late 80s and early 90s. He passed away the day we played Clemson in November 2023 at age 70 of pancreatic cancer. He was such a good, good guy, very religious.

All those people were good, decent people.

Yeah it’s very sad for those of us left behind. We miss em like crazy. Cried like a baby when mom called me at 2:30am to tell me Dad was gone. We had just spent the weekend together and watched Carolina with Robert Brooks and Todd Ellis beat Ga together. 52 years old and gone. So young.

I have no idea how old you guys are. But at some point, you have to give some thought as to what you are going to do if you outlive your spouse. It's a terrible thing to think about. But, there are no guarantees. What happened in the movie "The Notebook", where James Garner and Gena Rowlands died in bed together at the same time: she of alzheimers and he of heart failure....that's the movies, rarely in real life.

As a sidenote, Garner died 10 years after that movie of a heart attack. Rowlands died 10 years after him of alzheimers. Talk about a coincidence!!!

Wow I didn’t know that. Loved Garner. Hell of a actor. From The Great Escape to Rockford files. Was none better.

Before Christmas I was looking at the funeral service “programs” (I guess that’s what you call it - a program or order of service) I store in a drawer. 103, the oldest being from 2014 when I guess I started saving them. Some folks suffer a long time before they are gone and many of them have taught me about how to live and many have taught me how to die. I miss them all.

One of my favorite actors of all time. I remember when he died in 2014. We were on vacation at the Isle of Palms and an old Maverick show came on tv. I told my mother he had just died. She was upset. I realized then that she watched me watching Maverick as a little boy. Great actor and a great guy. They filmed The Notebook in the Charleston area. Gena Rowlands said Garner was on his way to play golf at one of the local golf courses when a busload of tourists pulled up and recognized him. The tourists jumped out of the bus surrounding him wanting to talk with him and get his autograph. He graciously talked to all and wrote nice words with his autograph and missed his tee time. What a guy!!!

I'm fine with cutting taxes. Just cut spending, too, making it 1 for 1. They are not stupid enough to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid (which many people don't know is used by some to pay for assisted living care for Mamas and Daddys). Defense spending is ripe for cutting. I believe we spend more on defense than the next 9, 10 or 11 countries combined. And BTW, if we are going to expand, let's take Canada or Britain. I prefer them over Greenland. But, that's me. :D
Idk id take Greenland for it’s resources and its strategic position
