It’s unfortunate the smooth brain crowd can’t comprehend what is really being said here.

There isn’t a single legal jurisdiction in the world that would allow that as a defense of a crime. It would literally nullify any criminal law. You wouldn’t be able to convict anyone of anything.

It would be nice if we could have honest discussions about how the FAA is underfunded and that’s what led to a shortage of ATCs.

But the republicans have made this conversations impossible.

A guy that use to go to my church is an air traffic controller. He was trained in the military. I have lost touch wtih him so I am not sure where he is at now. I rarely talked to him about work as I knew from his wife that it was very stressful.

First, you don't make it to actually working a tower without extensive training and experience and even then it's very tough. The guy I know toiled away at small airports for years before getting to a mid-size city. (FWIW- he's not white).

The air traffic system has serious issues from tech to staffing. Has for a long time. It's getting worse.

I don't personally see how politicians blasting the federal government and being employed by the government is going to attract younger, talented individuals to work for a government and workforce that is constantly being attacked and made to feel worthless. Who would sign up for such a thing? No one that has options.

The United States has a remarkable flight safety record. We are, and remain, the envy of the world. I hope that is still the case in 10 years.

I saw this- the program was started in the Trump administration. But it wasn't politically beneficial to him at the time - so now it's someone else's fault.

His main mistake was running his mouth about this crash and making allegations before he had any idea what he was talking about.

I heard a caller to a talk show this morning say that the Wichita, Kansas local community came together last night- Republicans and Democrats, City Council, Mayor, local officials- all gathering to offer prayers together and join in supporting the families. No political speeches. No blame. Only support for the families.

The caller was praising this event last night and contrasting it with the finger pointing and awful stuff from leaders in Washington.

Let's be honest - This is what happens when you have Pete Buttigieg in charge of transportation for 4 years while Joe Biden sends all of our money to grift wars, climate change special interest groups, and multi-billion dollar charging stations that never get built.

There should never be a shortage of Air Traffic Controllers. They are typically making around $150,000 after three years. If they needed to raise that figure to get more qualified people into those positions, one would have to believe that should be a top priority in any administration.

So regardless of whether the pilot or the controller was a DEI hire, it still all falls on a DEI hire in Pete Buttigieg who had zero experience for that position and did nothing for 4 years. He was hired because they thought his sexual orientation was cool.

The issue was systemic and DEI is clearly at the heart of the matter.
