I have heard nothing about them and have not seen them in any preseason polls or magazines. Are they "rebuilding" or are they just going downhill? It seems we should keep up the dominance of them but exactly what will they be like? Pitching? hitting? just curious because I know nothing about them

Based on the requirements laid out last year by DRad for JackLegg, he has to go far into the postseason to stick around.

IMO, if CU makes an early exit in the postseason (or misses it entirely), JackLegg will announce his successor and his "farewell tour" (that he has earned IMO) will take place in the 2016 season.

The word is this is his farewell tour if they don't make it to Omaha.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!! We love Jacklegg...

being a 40+ win team most years was probably enough for Clemson until their rival started taking baseball seriously and started playing for national titles fairly often.

From a Clemson baseball fan, the reasonable expectations this year are that we will probably look a lot like last year. I expect that we will make the post season but really don't see us hosting a regional and honestly an exit in the regionals is most likely.

We return most of our bats from last year with the notable exception being Boulware. Most of the time this would be considered a win but our hitting last year was not good so I can't say that gets many people excited.

We lose our ace from last year but do return 2 of our weekend starters including Crownover who led the team in wins last season. I expect our pitching to be about where it was last year. We will have good weekend starters but once we hit the bullpen or the midweek games we will not have the depth to compete with the big boys.

In the field we lose both middle infielders, our 1b, and our catcher. The catcher has already been replaced by Chris Okey who was our star recruit last season. He split time with Boulware behind the plate and DH. The middle infielders are usually hard to replace but we were so error prone last season that we constantly shuffled the deck to try to find consistancy. I don't know that it will be much better this season, but it honestly can't get any worse.

Other than that the team is really full of wild cards. We are going to have to find guys that can put the ball in play and get key hits. Unfortunately the trend for Clemson the last few years is a lack of clutch hitting combined with errors in the field at the worst times. Our starting pitches generally do enough to keep us in games but lack of run support and poor bullpen work cost us in the end. Nothing about this team indicates this year will be any different.

Let's see.....without bat warmers, a decent bus, wind machines or the ability to move home plate closer to the fences......I'd say not much expectations for this year.

Clemson has a very good baseball program and has had for a long time. Problem is when Tanner won those back to back national titles once while eliminating CU from Omaha in the process it upped the ante for Jacklegg. Normally Jack's resume' would be acceptable for most any program but when there are two national title trophies 3 hours up the road then it becomes difficult. USC dominating the series of late doesn't help his cause either. If I were them I'd go after the coach at Florida. My expectations for USC is the same as always, win the series with CU and host a super regional and if we are good and lucky enough go to Omaha.

Don't forget they do have the outfield charcoal grill to blow smoke in the outfield.

Didn't hey also move home plate closer to the fences so they could hit more home runs..

Why would O'Sullivan leave Florida? Serious question. Does he have family close to Clemson or something? I know he used to coach there but Florida is a better situation and they can pay better.

Win the ACC, sweep Carolina, win the College World Series then beat the New York Yankees in the major league World Series. They are almost as crazy as Dabo and co.

Yes, but it wasn't just for increased offense. They also wanted to add box seating at ground level, behind home plate.

Don't ask me why but I have a feeling that quempsum is going to play "lights out" this year to save jacklegg's job, which may include winning the series over us. Boy, do I hope I'm wrong. But, you guys know those nuts in the upstate as well as anyone. Winning the series over us may actually save jacklegg's job or at least go a long ways toward saving his job.

Boy, do I ever want that series this year over quempsum.

Well, they have been extremely close to winning the series recently. They had a sizeable lead here last year, and we needed a 9th inning rally to win at Clemson.

In 2012, Clemson beat us in Clemson with a rally and we needed a miraculous catch by Marzilli to win in Charleston.

Honestly, these USC/CU baseball games can typically go down to the end with one play or one pitch determining the outcome. Eventually, they'll get some bounces and it will go there way.

It hasn't in a long time, but I think that is more likely because of Leggett's tightness. His teams are wound up like a rubber band, ready to snap under pressure. At some point in time, he'll find some players that will overcome that for a while.

The ACC starts conference weekend play a week earlier than the SEC does. SEC play begins on weekend 5 and continues for each weekend until the end of the season. ACC play begins on weekend 4, and member schools get one "off" weekend late in the season. Some schools take the weekend off (UnCar to study for finals, I guess), others schedule a non-conference weekend opponent. Clemron plays Ga Southern on their "off" weekend this season.

What if the SEC started doing that? Would love to see the two leagues schedule both schools to be "off" the same weekend late in the season, and USC-Clemron could do their 3 cities in 3 days tour in late April or early May instead of February. Would heighten interest in the series even more, and there would be no need for bat warmers

. One issue that comes to mind would be the availability of venues such as Fluor Field, The Joe, TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, etc. once minor league play begins.

Thoughts?

Thoughts?
do they have "fake study halls" to go with their fake classes too??

Until Clemson gets back to Omaha, the big "Clemson Family" doesn't give a hoot about them. The are irrelevant as women's basketball to them. They only care about football.

Five things for sure:
Jackleg will not be smiling
He will be playing with himself often while coaching third base (those hands are always busy around the "cup area")
He will never praise the other team. It's always "we didn't play well. We beat ourselves."
He still thinks we use bat warmers again
Doesn't recruit in-state players well

Jack is very a insecure person. He's also an atheist. How does that happen up there? Where's Dabo when you need him.

Regarding the whole bat warmer thing, they're not illegal. Jack is a clown. Their basketball coach is the only one up there with any class.

So in a nutshell, Clemson is going to beat up on Duke, Wake, Pitt, VT, Syracuse, and BC. They will lose every series to every decent team on the schedule and then lose as a #2 seed in the regionals.
