What defines success at UofSC?

Successful by our standards is winning 6 games a year. It’s like we’re comfortable at the mediocre - decent level and don’t expect more that that. I’m ready to become a contender for the SEC East every year. Beamer might work out, but he was a huge gamble. There is no evidence that he can get us there. Hope I’m wrong.
Everybody wants to be a contender every year, but the reality is it probably won't happen in football for the obvious reasons stated by many times before. (Too many teams in the league with more resources, a larger in-state recruiting base, etc). It doesn't mean USC can't do it from time to time, but those schools with more resources aren't going away so it's not likely that you will consistently beat them in those areas.

Spurrier gave USC hope, but it also took him 5 years (and some fans were ready to show him the door after 2 or 3 years). Spurrier is one of the greatest coaches of all time and he still never won the SEC at USC. That's how hard it is.

Not sure what the definition is. But, here's what I do know: Being an annual Top 20 team is attainable. If we do that, "magical" seasons will be sprinkled in at times.

Clemmons ain’t a pimple on a dog’s a$$. They started paying to playing again in 2011 or so because we were kickin’ that tail with ease, and everyone knows it but their fans. Dabo was about to get a 1-way ticket to nowhere, but lucky for them. The wins weren’t a fluke because like SOS said, prepare to beat EVERYONE, and they will be included. Unfortunately, he stopped doing that after a few years of getting SC’s best, became Dabo’s BFF, and went back to UF. But it takes a few years to get on the right track, and we were headed that way. It took Dabo 8/9 years, with some very good fortune along the way, but all that they belong in the SEC we don’t, like those years didn’t happen is hogwash. Maybe Shane does have something from back then to bring back, because save a very few bad losses during those years, they definitely had something. They were building success for the future, and it was more than 7/8 wins, and beating Clemsin. I won’t totally quantify ATL as the pinnacle because we beat the Dawgs back to back, won 11 games, and watched them go, but taking care of everything else will get us back there again. Honestly, the East is as down as it’s ever been. If you think UF and UGA are actual Top 10 teams and would’ve had anything for our teams back then no. I was thinking while I was at the game, besides the usual RB’s, this was the most pedestrian “good” UGA team I’ve seen in awhile.

A bowl game most years would go a long way.

All those lean years have tempered expectations.
