--Chris Silva said on the play he went down he took a shot in the knee and the player's elbow hit him in the throat. He said he had some trouble breathing when he went down but, other than some knee soreness, he's fine.

--Martin starts by saying the team had a good week of practice and he was really pleased with how the team came out. Martin said they started to play to the opponent near the end, which can't happen. Said that was a problem throughout the start of non-conference play.

--Martin said he's not sure how long Alanzo Frink will be out. Said there's a good amount of swelling around the ankle but it's not a high ankle sprain, which is good news. They need to see the swelling go down before they can start to see some range of motion and get him back on the court.

Frink was running in a straight line, Martin said. Said Frink's challenge now is to not run like a "heavy kid" and he was running in practice and his shoe got caught.

--Tre Campbell, who had 11 points Monday, was able to "catch his breath" a little bit going home for a little bit for Christmas. He came back and had really good practices. The biggest challenge now is to get him to be less passive. Martin said he struggles coaching passive players and challenges those kind of guys. Said when he challenges Campbell, Campbell usually doesn't play well. He told Campbell over the break "we'll figure it out."

--Martin said he doesn't pay a lot of attention to plus/minus and doesn't look at stats really. Said numbers can tell you anything you want them to. Martin follows it up saying the only stat that really the staff focuses on offensive rebounding percentages. Said he likes high possession games and defensive efficiency.

--He needs more production out of his second big spot outside of Silva. Said that's one of the reasons Cudd was first off the bench because of that. Right now, if Minaya was healthy, Martin said he'd start at the four and the Gamecocks would change the way they played.
